John Williams – Lapti Nek (From The Original Soundtrack Recording Of Star Wars, Return Of The Jedi) (US 12″ Promo)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983

Return Of The Jedi 40th Anniversary

“Lapti Nek” was a song originally featured in the theatrical cut of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi before being replaced with “Jedi Rocks” in the 1997 Special Edition of the film. The song was written by John Willams, and performed by fictional alien pop music group The Max Rebo Band.

The Max Rebo Band debuted in Return of the Jedi during the scenes set in Jabba’s palace on Tatooine. In the original version, the trio performs a Huttese-language pop song titled “Lapti Nek” (Huttese for “Work It Out”); the English lyrics (by composer John Williams’s son Joseph Williams) are about dancing; Hardware Wars creator Ernie Fosselius helped arrange the song. the song includes vocals by English singer Michele Gruska. RSO Records released a unique 12″ single for the song, including remixes by Grammy-winning remixer/producer Steve Thompson.
