Roberta Flack – Uh-Uh Ooh-Ooh Look Out (Here It Comes) (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988

Originally posted September 7, 2011

“Uh-Uh Ooh-Ooh Look Out (Here It Comes)” is the Ashford & Simpson-penned, 1989 single by Roberta Flack. The single was the follow-up to her number one R&B hit, “Oasis”. “Uh-Uh Ooh-Ooh Look Out (Here It Comes)” stalled at number thirty-seven on the U.S. R&B singles chart, failing to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition, a remix of the single made it to number one on the dance club play chart for one week. Ashford & Simpson recorded the song themselves for the soundtrack of the 1998 film, Down In The Delta.

HI Paul! Thanks so much for your work! But I can just download an empty folder from this… Don´t know if it´s my fault or there´s something… wrong. Greetings from Spain!

I think it’s so wonderful when you re-post something that you feel needs a new transfer and/or a new listen. This is a fabulous record and I’m so excited that you’ve brought it back into our listening pleasure. I love the Baker mixes, as you know how much I love this man. Thank you so very much Paul. Your wonderful!

Paul, a huge thanks for reposting this. For me, it really is one of the best releases of its era. I have a little story to tell about why it’s not available digitally. When I worked for a record label doing licensing, we tried to get one of these remixes for a compilation, but were told that Flack would not authorise their use for *anything* (they were probably done against her will in the first place). I imagine we’ll have to wait for her to pass away before there’s a chance of them every getting an official release, so thanks… Read more »

The Hurley House Mix is indeed available on an official Atlantic hits comp. in 1993 titled Softly With These Songs. It’s the one shining moment in Hurley’s career. I remember flipping the 12″ over and spinning it for the first time when it was released, not expecting much at all. My jaw dropped after hearing the absolute best 5 minutes to hit the floor in ’88–from Steve “Silk” Hurley, a remixer who’s work always sound hissy & paper then. I was hopeful that he’d give the same quality to Liza Minnelli’s Love Pains after seeing his name on the record’s… Read more »

You do not have to love Roberta Flack´s voice (I do) and you certainly do not have to love this song (I do) but as the general music lover you HAVE TO love the Arthur Baker remix. It´s just fabulous. The bassline, the parts with voice, drums and bassline only – just awesome.
I have to play it again right now 🙂

Thank you Paul.

I remember this being posted aswell, and i’m overwhelmed you posted it again in 2017. The Hurley remix was great, although i preferred the Baker mixes.

Thanks Paul 🙂

Hi Paul. Are you not doing the ‘this was previously posted but here is the new rip and for the first time in 24bit’ thing anymore? Only I have this from you when previously posted in 2011…?

OMG thanks for posting this again. It’s simply one of the all time BEST remixes ever – and the pinnacle of Steve Silk Hurleys work to be sure (well maybe this and Liza Minnelli’s Love Pains).

Thanks again Paul!! Have a great weekend 🙂
