Originally posted February 4, 2012
“Into the Groove” is a song by American singer Madonna from the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan originally released in 1984.
In 1987 The song was remixed by Shep Pettibone for Madonna’s remix compilation You Can Dance. In the United States, a promotional 12″ single was issued containing exclusive unmixed versions without the inclusion of the fade in and outs that are present on the album.
The 12″ also includes a remix of Madonna’s debut single”Everybody” remixed by Bruce Forest, and Frank Heller with additional keyboards by David Cole of C + C Music Factory. This version is also taken from the You Can Dance remix compilation and is exclusive to this 12″ promo.
** Also of note at the end of both versions of “Into The Groove” during the fade ot there is a bump sound this is not a flaw I have two copies of this 12″ and this is present in both copies. This is also present in the promo CD which contains the single edits of the songs.

A primeira versão do SB chegou nas rádio e não era exatamente igual a esta (que tem alguns sons instrumentos/sons adicionais). Eu devo ter em algum K7. Grato, Paul.
Aha! (Or is it, “A-ha”?)
Now I remember this track! Just not by name, and not all at once. I had to look it up before my brain “clicked.”
It is a fun tune, and I’m not a dancer. I”m not even a Madonna fan!
Thanks Paul, for this “new and improved” 2021 vinyl transfer!
Thanks for the upgraded transfer of this! This is a really great mix of “Holiday,” a song that had been sadly lacking an extended remix for too long at that point. I remember when this album came out — it was at a time when we just couldn’t get enough Madonna, so anything new was welcome, even if it wasn’t all new songs. I bought the vinyl and the CD, then ran out to buy the cassette when I learned it had extra tracks on it. I grabbed the CD of single edits when I found it, too. I had… Read more »
You’re welcome, David 🙂
And obviously I meant “Into the Groove” in that comment. My brain was elsewhere, I guess…
Very Good. Thaks.
Muchas gracias por este magnífico disco.
Saludos y abrazos.
De Nada Jose 🙂
thanks, paul! the extended remix of “into the groove” is one of my all time favourite 80s remixes and this unedited mix is still not available on CD. so your improved re-rip is highly welcomed!
by the way: you think the pumping sound at the end was wanted by the producer and artist or is it just a technical error? you think it would make sense to correct/improve this flaw in your rip?
I was thinking about removing what I call the “flaw” at the end of both Into The Groove versions but decided since it is present in every format I have I decided to leave it. Maybe it was placed there intentionally I would love to know what Shep’s thoughts are on it.
Agreed! While I’m not a fan of pride, I do believe that people can choose to live the life they want that makes them happy and that’s the ultimate goal. We all need to get along and not villeinize each other for our differences. I do have friends that live this way and I don’t criticize them for it. As for Madonna “The Material Girl” era. This remix album is a gem and these promo’s are great. This is the only one of the three that don’t have in my vast collection of Madonna 12″ singles. The remixes that were… Read more »
I don’t think it’s a matter of “choosing” or to live a life one “wants” to, – it’s a matter a of letting people be what they are, with no harassment or judgement or the likes involved. In other words, it’s not “a way” of living or a life “style”, for that matter. It really isn’t. It’s their life, period. That said, I respect everyone who chooses not to take part in demonstrations or activism or whatever. So I guess we probably mean pretty much the same. Really like the Madonna stuff, and enjoy many of these revisits. Thanks a… Read more »
You are a revelation Paul!!! How cool of you to post a Madonna record today since I’ve heard she’s been in the news touting a new song aired in Times Square (New York City) for Pride Weekend. I will always love our “Material Girl”, however I still love her early incarnations of her career the best. These songs from her “You Can Dance” LP are awesome. And, dear Paul, bless you for giving us the promo versions that don’t have them segued into the other. I’m hoping one day you’ll rip all of the promos for us. They are pure… Read more »
I do hope to get around to re-ripping the other two You Can Dance promos at some point. I loved this period of her work. Have a safe weekend 🙂
looking forward to the over and over remix and dub mix.i never understood why officially they were only on cassette
Yassss! PLEASE complete the trilogy! Thanks Paul. Happy Pride month… =o)
