Burning The Ground Exclusive 1983
“Two Hearts Beat as One” is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the seventh track on their 1983 album, War, and was released as its second single in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia on 21 March 1983.
The music video was directed by Meiert Avis and was filmed outside the Basilica of Sacré Coeur de Montmartre in Paris in March 1983 and portrays the band performing the song, intercut with scenes of an acrobat and other scenes featuring Peter Rowen (the boy who appears on the album cover). The Parisian church is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Unlike the other videos from the album, it has never been included on any of the band’s video compilations.
It was released as the album’s second single in the US, UK and Australia, as opposed to “Sunday Bloody Sunday”, which was released only in the mainland of Europe. Both singles were released in Japan.

I’ve enjoyed U2 since before “I Will Follow” came out.
There’s a 12” remix of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” on an import that’s great, as well as a 12” extended version (NOT a remix) of “Pride (In The Name Of Love”) that runs 4:40 on a US Island 12” promo with Steve Winwood’s “Valerie” (IIRC) on the B-side. The U2 extension can also be found on an import CD single, but that’s about it. All the other releases run 3:46
Oh wow, this is HUGE! Never heard the remix … thanks a ton sir !!
I love U2’s single output particularly for the remixes. This is no exception of course, it sounds fantastic.
It would be cool if you could post the Morales remixes for the “Lemon” 12” single from 1993, if you have it in your collection?
Cheers Paul 🙂
Pretty sure I have a sealed copy of “Lemon” on yellow vinyl. If I can get myself to open it I will post it.
Is the A-side different from the Club Mix (also by Kevorkian)? I have that and it’s only 4m30s. this one is almost 6 minutes.
Yes, it is an alternate mix.
Well, this woke me up from my slumber!
Good morning, PaulT, and thank you for U2 at their finest hour.
Good Morning! It’s good to see you Muff Diver 🙂
WOW! I had no idea this remix even existed! You never disappoint, Paul! Thank you so much for adding another U2 remix to my collection! I absolutely love Rock remixes, but this one made my heart skip a beat!
You’re very welcome, Martika 🙂
Wow, 12″ the version here is my favorite. I picked up this 12″ back in the day up at a used record store that sometimes had radio station cast offs. I had this version on an old mix tape when I was in High School, none of the other versions sound right to me. Thanks Paul, you rock!
You’re welcome, Joey 🙂
Love the rock 12 inches! This is actually my favorite single off the War album. Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Year’s Day get all the airplay, but this is the one with just the right balance between serious political ambitions and just good rocking fun. The War box set had all the remixes EXCEPT this promo edit. Thank you Paul!! Us completists aren’t worthy, Lol.
You’re welcome, Retro Hound. I love the bass line in this track stellar.
My heart is beating like mad!! This is the U2 I love. Such excellent memories of this song. Thanks so much Paul for this mix too! It’s one of my personal favorites!!
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff. I love the early U2 this track is quite bombastic 🙂
Paul, and that is why I love it so!!
