About this transfer:
I had several issues with this record not sure if it was a bad pressing or not the record looks near mint and unplayed. There is some audible noise especially on track three. I did several adjustments to my stylus including checking the azimuth and tracking force which did not change anything, I even swapped out the stylus for another. I am assuming this is a bad pressing or the record grooves are worn. Had this not been a request accompanied by a donation I probably would have scrapped this project. At any rate this is a fun record hope you enjoy it.
“Please Let Me Go” is the fourth single by British indie pop band The Popinjays. The band was formed by Wendy Robinson (vocals) and Polly Hancock (vocals, guitar), initially with a drum machine.
The single was taken from the bands debut album Bang Up To Date With The Popinjays was released in April 1990.

Vote Elvis, by the same band is another fave of mine (i was a bit older then) 😉
Always keen on stuff I never heard before. Also saw my share of bad pressings, skips, scratches, pop and clicks. One of the most bizarre was on a 12″ that had a spiral groove pressed twice. Just when I stood up to push the needle from endless skipping it resumes normal play! LOL
I’ve had records like that… look great, sound not so great. I don’t know this record, so I can’t corroborate any likeness to the sound or pressing. I’ve found static in higher frequencies is usually from being damaged by a bad system, while misc invisible pops and odd surface sound are usually from a bad pressing, at-least that has been my experience.
I agree Joey. I have also had records that looked awful but sounded pristine it’s a very strange thing 🙂

We discovered almost an album worth of unreleased, and mostly forgotten songs while prepping for the reunion gigs, and after talking to Derek at One Little Indian (for the first time in 22 years) he suggested we release it, along with a box set of all the back catalogue! So we’re working on getting all that together at the moment, with some gigs to go with it.”
The time and work you invest leaves me speechless time and time again, Paul.
As a sidenote, making a request is legitimate as is making a donation. Making a donation and expecting you to fulfil a request always makes my stomach… hurt. A donation is a donation is a donation. But then that´s only me.

Hi Paul! This is a new one on me, but I’m always open for new records and sounds. That’s too bad that the record gave you trouble, but I’m sure that the person who requested it is very happy with the final result because, knowing you, you certainly did the absolute best under the circumstances. I still think it’s grand that you honor requests the way you do. Another reason why you’re tops in my book.
