In Germany there was also a series (Blank & Jones presents so80s), where the extended version was released on CD1 at Volume 8 (2013).

Thank you for your time and effort to provide us with great extended versions and remixes.

It’s also on the Blank & Jones So80s vol.8 compilation, surprisingly not brick walled, in fact just minimal compression or no compression used for mastering the CD.
I compared them in an audio editor with studio monitors and studio headphones, levelled out the loudness. There’s no notable difference! If it wasn’t for the occasional hiss sound from the vinyl rip, I wouldn’t know which is which. There should be some hearable difference due to unequal mastering for CD and vinyl. But it’s too subtle to be noticeable
for my ears. Astonishing rip, again!

Davos Via 45, I’m in awe of your critique of Paul’s mastery! I’m so impressed with audiophiles and their ears. I think it’s so important when someone like you can really give a summation of Paul’s work. You’re someone whose opinion really counts. Not saying that mine or anyone’s else’s doesn’t matter, but I love when Paul gets recognition for all the hard work he does. Gosh, I love this place and all that come to visit. Thank you for your incredible statements concerning our beloved DjPaulT.

Have a great day!!

Jeff

Paul & Jeff No fancy high-end audiophile equipment here, just a decent sounding home studio setup and experienced ears. Audition has some powerful noise reduction tools, you gotta teach yourself, Paul, in most cases less is more, it’s difficult to give some advice, I’d rather that you don’t use any hiss-reduction at all. If the vinyl is in bad shape, there’s nothing much you can do, as you know better than me. If it’s in near mint condition, the distortions are minimal anyway. Considering headphones, Beyerdynamic and AKG have been studio standards for decades, but there are many others. What’s… Read more »

Great stuff, thanks Paul! This has to be my favourite period of Level 42..I bought this very 12 inch single and absolutely love the Shep Pettibone remix of ‘Something About You’ which is far superior to the standard ‘Sisa Mix’ 12 inch. Need a section on Shep Pettibone alone and his remixes! Awesome work Paul.

Many thanks Paul and tons of enthusiasm for Level 42! I love how you give us these most precious twelves and cleaned up, just in case ours is a bit over played. That’s one of the best things about coming here everyday to your site. So many records (dance records) are lost. You care about them and rescue them from oblivion and make them “new” to our ears because of your love and respect of them. You are such a blessing and I am always humbled by the quality and the selection. You are an artist your self!! This is… Read more »

Got this 12inch of course 🙂 Together with the German standard edition and a white label promo.
LOVE Level 42. Envy NKelly seeing them at Dingwalls (London) tomorrow. As I have a couple of days off maybe I should hurry and fly to London. It´s only an hour´s flight from here 🙂

Enjoy, NKelly.

Thanks Paul. I have the 2cd deluxe of World Machine, which is awesome. My favorite remix of theirs is the 12″ version of Children Say.

The Mendelsohn mix was released on the CDV single and also on the 3CD compilation The Ultimate Collection II – B-Sides Remixes & Rarities. Still, not many have those, and this 12″ has the best mix 🙂

Thx for ripping this 🙂
