“It Doesn’t Have to Be this Way” is a single released by British band The Blow Monkeys in early 1987. It is one of the band’s best known singles, and hit the top 5 on the UK Singles Chart. The song was featured in the 1987 comedy film Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol.
Even though the single charted internationally in the United States the single failed to chart giving it a Totally Obscure 80s placement in that country.

Hi Paul. In my country this one was a big hit in the 80s, so not totally obscure. Even nowadays you can listen to it in the local FM radios.

This is so melodramatic and I have a thing for backing female vocalists!! I am in Heaven when it comes to The Blow Monkeys!! I really feel I have to play catch up with their discography now!
