“Rock Me Amadeus” is a song recorded by Austrian musician Falco, for his third studio album, Falco 3 (1985). The single was made available for physical sale in 1985 in German-speaking Europe, through A&M. “Rock Me Amadeus” was written by Falco along with Dutch music producers Bolland & Bolland. To date, the single is the only German language song to peak at number one of the Billboard Hot 100, which it did on 29 March 1986.

It topped the singles charts on both sides of the Atlantic. It was Falco’s only number one hit in both the United States and the United Kingdom, despite the artist’s popularity in his native Austria and much of Europe.

Thanks Paul. I only had the US 12″. Little different from this one. I appreciate the share.

I’m late to this post but thank you for this classic! A funny memory was that on April Fools day the year after this was hot, a radio station looped the “ooh! Rock me Amadeus!” clip for several hours to drive people nuts. 🙂 Thanks again for the great rip!!

Thank you so much! How many memories brings to me. My aunt recorded this song for me on tape and I loved it. I even found the B-side “urban tropical” funny and that line from “Negrita lady with the bloodshot eyed”

Regards

Hi, Paul. Great job. I love this site.
Talking about Falco, could you re-rip After the Fire – Der Kommissar?
Thanks in advance.
Greetings from Spain.

5 Stars! Another song that never gets old! Can’t wait to hear your transfer to see if it’s better than last year’s digital release! Earlier this month I bought the new Deluxe Edition of his first album, Einzelhaft. Great stuff!
Thank you yet again!

The first time I heard this song it was on the radio (while wearing headphones) -the “American” version with the English spoken history lesson at the beginning – I immediately bought the 12” single. Then found out he was the original artist for Der Kommissar and then I got the Falco 3 tape…. Great memories, very cool track: one of a kind!

Karen and I are really jazzed for this new rip. Brings back happy memories for us both! Booming beats and crazy sampling made this an innovative single at the time and influenced many!! Thank you, Paul!!!

Another one of those staple tracks i played on rotation. I liked his “Emotional” single too with the John Luongo mixes.

Thanks for the revival again, Paul 🙂

I love this single!! Nice to have this in addition to the US 7″ single. In the US we know Falco for this hit, but he had so much more! Thank you Paul for this meticulous new rip!!
