I suspect this may be the very rare pressing of the track where the band re-recorded the song and substituted the word “roam” with “Rome” after they’d had a nice trip to Italy..!
🙂
One of my favorite B-52’s songs, if not my absolute favorite. Not their best, probably, but so fun and happy.
I also didn’t realize Nile Rodgers produced this, nor that Don Was produced Love Shack.
Thanks for posting.
A floor filler every time Paul!
Thank you, thank you very much, good job congratulations ..!
Thanks Paul,
Love this track
Loved the B-52’s, I remember when they played Love Shack in the nightclubs, especially the part of the song “Bang, bang, bang, on the door, baby” the drum beat really pumped out of the speakers.
Roam was very catchy too!, love the video to this and great that Nile Rodgers was involved, everything he touches turns to gold, and the B-52’s were a great band, with a very cool image.
splendiferous post Paul.
I was just listening to this song last night! What a surprise. Such a great song. Such a fun selection. I remember the songs off this album were everywhere back then during this period. Reminds me of summertime in the late 80’s
We must have had our minds connected Memoryboy 🙂
Wow! Liked this song. The B-52’s are a happiness bringer group. They are able to elevate the mood even in a person like me, I’m prone to melancholy.
Thanks again.
Whats really amazing is that this up-beat tour de force was made after the death of Guitarist Ricky Wilson.
Its a miracle some of my favorite albums got made at all and what talented people can produce from the depths of depression and adversity.
Totally agree Kaex 🙂
We need happiness now days for sure 🙂
Already said my thanks on Facebook but wanted to post thanks on here too. I’ve got several of the B’s 12″ singles but your rips always come out SO much better than mine! Then again you’ve got better equipment and more experience… 🙂
I appreciate you coming over to the actual site Dave to make a special comment
@Jeff Sorry but their music never got a hold on me. Maybe I´m too melancholic and their music is to happy 🙂 When I read Paul´s post I thought, “Roam? Don´t know it.” Bloody nonsense, of course. EVERYBODY knows “Roam” whether he/she likes it or not. I haven´t heard the song in ages but much to my suprise the 12inch remix of the b-side was very familiar. And it´s a great remix. I really like that one. So thank you very much Paul for opening my eyes to a song and a band that was somehow pushed away in my… Read more »
Song_and_Dance their music an acquired taste back in the 80s I wasn’t really a huge fan but as I got older they grew on me now I am a fan. I am so happy that you are giving them another chance too 🙂
Song_and_Dance, Nothing wrong with opinions, Song_and_Dance, and melancholy either. I just think it was so cool of you listening to this song and that you enjoyed it this time around. I think I liked The B-52’s because they were so quirky and different. My tastes run the gamut of a little bit of everything. I just love the HUGE SPECTRUM of songs Paul presents here on Burning The Ground. Something for everybody. I just think it’s a blessing that you are here Song_and_Dance. I love individuals like you so much. You are very, very cool and likeable. Have a great… Read more »
You can’t help but love The B-52’s!! Paul, you’ve been so wonderful showcasing so much of their back catalog on Burning The Ground. The music is so much fun and really gets people moving on the dance floor. There’s a guy here at work sometimes helping out and I’ve made him a compilation courtesy of your stellar rips. He loves them!! You really “electrify” the atmosphere Paul with you generously sharing music that really has escaped our ears for so long. I do everything I possible can to support the artists I love by buying their CDs and all, but… Read more »
Thank you so much Jeff. I am very happy to hear you are sharing the music with people that you know in your life 🙂
Awesome. I’ll predictably say… More The B-52’s, please! Many thanks.
You’re welcome Neil 🙂
Great rip! For those reading…the CD5 has a few more versions…I like the 7″ Remix with the opening acappella. Also, the 1998 cd single Summer Of Love had 2 more mixes of Roam. I really like the Miami Phunky Break Mix clocking in at 7:28. The other mix is the Indamix Tekno Mix which is really just an instrumental. I don’t know why Artists/remixers release a “mix” of a song with 0 vocals and absolutely no elements of the original song and call it a “mix”. If you didn’t know the title you would just assume it was some instrumental… Read more »
I agree Fred very frustrating when you get a “mix” that is just a glorified instrumental.
Makes me happy 🙂
Thank you Paul
Makes me happy that you are happy Jay65 🙂
🙂
Thanks Paul. I love this single. I have it on CD single but the Instrumental Remix is exclusive on vinyl.
You’re welcome Daniel 🙂
