DjPaulT, Any chance of getting this re-up, please? Do you have any other Pebbles maxi-cds?

Hiya,
Lovely song by Pebbles.
I remember there was a male response to Pebbles Mercedes hit by some Guy.
Essentially male chorus was “I wanna ride in your Mercedes” . . .
Does anybody recall who released the male response ?

Thanks, Paul. Always enjoyed me some Pebbles back in the day, although she didn’t seem to catch on as much in Canada as the States. Too bad she didn’t release more albums.

“Mercedes Boy” was one of my very favorite songs from the latter half of the 1980s! I had hoped that Pebbles would become the next Madonna, because she certainly had the singing and songwriting talent for it, but she didn’t catch on the same way, which was a shame.

So glad you did this rip! I ripped my 12″ single of this back about 15 years ago, but my single wasn’t in great shape after about 1000 plays, so your rip sounds fantastic! Thanks!

This was one of my most requested dance singles from that year and had it stolen from me along with about 40 other singles when I did an overseas tour. Found a copy of this not too long ago but couldn’t get it as clean as this one.

Thanks for a great memory.

Such a nice flash-back, Paul. I used to love hearing this on the radio and on the mix shows too. Like Song_and_Dance said up above, kinda Paul Abdul-ish. I very excited to be hearing the dub for the first time. As you know, it’s so thrilling because you give us all the versions which, sometimes, we never hear again. You really support the integrity of the 12-inch with all its mixes.

Many thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for the rip, Paul! Pebbles had a few great hits in the US back in the day. It’s too bad many of them sounded so similar. Most of her mixes always had great intros, outs, and breaks. For those of you unfamiliar with Pebbles, check out her Wikipedia or Google around to read about her professional and personal relationships.

I don´t recall Mercedes Boy being a hit over here. I´ve only known it from a Ben Liebrand Grand Mix. I liked it then and I like it now. Nice and funky song, sort of Paula Abdul-ish. I look forward to listening to the dub mix.

Nice one, Paul. Thanks.

Paul, this single is great, I really liked it! Thanks! One day if possible and of course if you have Nia Peeples’ 12″ single – I Know How (To Make You Love Me), would you post it to us !?
