Laugh when I see the enthusiasm for Robie. Robie was a coked out jerk who few people could work with more than once. He and Baker did more to hurt the music industry than most people will ever understand. Sure, he had some talent, though largely derivative and lifted from others, but there’s a reason he wound up a footnote in dance production instead of a frontline producer. Sometimes your heroes are no heroes at all.
Very, VERY cool!! Thanks for this Paul!!
Marvelous! Love the work by Richard Jobson in all his incarnations (well, the music ones :-)).
Good Morning Paul, Again I had to thank you for this fantastic record. I really like the band The Armoury Show. They almost remind me of bands like U2 and The Alarm with their earlier stuff. This single, however, is truly out in leftfield, meaning, that it’s quirky and far from mainstream. Even the description of the track is “Leftfield / Synth-pop.” John Robie’s mix is a masterpiece. This guy doesn’t get the credit he truly deserves, but I’m so happy there’s Burning The Ground to celebrate legacies of different artists and producers. I’d really love to hear what your… Read more »
Great to see another obscure post. Looking forward to hearing this one.
Thanks Paul 🙂
Thanks Paul. 🙂
thanks for this great mix from John Robie, now that you’re into new wave I was wondering if you could “master” another great 12″ with Alex Sadkin mix Paul Haig’s “Heaven Sent” and his wonderful b-side “Running Away/Back Home”…
You’re welcome Idris 🙂
Thanks Paul for this awesome rarity. I also have their remastered CD Waiting For The Floods.
You’re welcome Omar.
PAUL!! I’m floored!! What a way to start off the week. Anything by John Robe is such a welcome surprise and this is such an excellent song. I think the Armoury Show is a terrific band to begin with, and this song with Robie’s cacophonous mix, makes it an excellent choice. Thank you for preserving Mr. Robie’s legacy on your site. I am so EXCITED!! Absolutely, over-the-moon to be exact!!
Grateful!!!
Jeff
You’re welcome Jeff knew you would like it 🙂 I hope the rest of my readers like it too. I love posting the hit records but I also like broadening our minds to not so well known artists. I know people download the obscurities so would love to see more comments on them.
