Burning The Ground Exclusive 1979
“Once And For All” is a 1979 single released by the disco singer Teresa Wiater. The song became a minor hit for Wiater, who unfortunately fell into obscurity after recording only two albums for United Artists Records.
Teresa Wiater was the vocalist who recorded Édith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose” in 1977 for remixer/producer Tom Moulton. However, Teresa’s version went unreleased. Grace Jones obtained an acetate pressing of Wiater’s unreleased recording and convinced Tom to give it to her. The rest is history, as it became popular all over Europe and other parts of the world.
I found this record in a dollar bin that looked like it had never been played, so I grabbed it. The 12″ is a time capsule of what I imagine life was like in NYC during the disco era. I’m sure it got some rotation at Studio 54.

I was a bit surprised. (US 12″) ? This one has ‘I Can’t Sit Down’ as the B-side. I’m sure the ‘promo’ was forgotten. Especially since the link goes to it. :-))
I’m always amazed at how many songs from my favorite era I missed. Thanks for the work. (⌒‿⌒☆)
Thank you Paul, it definitely is a time capsule!! What an amazing time it must have been to be a young adult in NYC or LA in the disco and post disco era. This single would have fit in nicely in Studio 54. I hope you, Jeff, Martika, Song and Dance and everyone else has a great weekend!!
The closest I got to the Disco era was roller sharing in my driveway listening to Hot Stuff by Donna Summer I would have been ten years old lol 🙂 Have a great weekend.
You’re a youngster compared to me Paul! Those days were quite decadent, yet fun before AIDS wrecked the fun.
That story about “La Vie En Rose” going to Grace Jones is mind-blowing, as it was a huge hit for the amazing Mrs. Jones. It could have made this obscure artist a mega star, but we will never know. Thank you for another fantastically obscure Disco track! Happy Disco Friday to you and everyone else here!
Teresa’s version of “La Vie En Rose” is pretty good after hearing Grace I cannot imagine anyone else owning the song. I hope you have a nice weekend, Martika. 🙂
La Vie en Rose by Teresa Wiater. Very rare, unreleased recording. (youtube.com)
Thank you for the link, Paul. I have to agree with you: Grace Jones sang it much better! And she went on to release even more amazing music like Slave to the Rhythm.
No wonder Teresa dropped out of sight after having Grace stomp on her chance for dance floor fame. However, Tom Moulton made the right choice to produce Grace’s version
Yes, Paul, thanks for uncovering another disco gem that so many of us, yours truly too, hasn’t heard. I revel in the “lost” records you so wonderfully bring to our attention. It’s so fun to discover something new, especially with you as our guide.
I hope you have a super-fun weekend, Paul!! You too, Retro Hound, Martika, and all of you fabulous people out in cyberspace!!
Jeff
Same to you, Jeff! It’s easy to have a super-fun weekend, when it starts with a DJ PaulT Disco remix! 🙂
Love you, Martika!
Jeff
“This song had to grow on me. Her vocals are different, let’s put it that way. After a few spins of listening to it repeatedly while working on the record, I do love it. There are some fun sirens thrown in too. Have a great weekend! :)”
You can never go wrong with sirens in a dance song. 🙂
What a find, Paul! What a way to send us off into the disco weekend. I absolutely love it. Teresa´s version of La Vie en Rose is great, too. Nothing will ever surpass Ms Grace Jones, though. 🙂 Have a great weekend, Paul and Jeff and everyone else around. Keep on disco-ing 😉
You’re welcome, have a wonderful weekend.
Song _And _Dance!!!
It’s always a highlight for me when you drop by to leave a message!! Have a great weekend and enjoy the great music, Paul, has to offer!
Cheers!
Jeff
Thanks Paul for this amazing slice of disco history!

John.
