Stevie Wonder – Go Home (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

“Go Home” is a 1985 hit single performed by Stevie Wonder. The song showcased the narrator’s plea to a young woman to go home, though the girl tries to get the narrator to stay with her. In the U.S., the song peaked at #2 on the R&B chart and #10 on the Hot 100 and, to date, is Wonder’s last song to reach the U.S. top ten on the Hot 100. “Go Home” also topped both the dance chart and the Adult Contemporary chart.

Stevie performed this song as early as the 7 May 1983 episode of Saturday Night Live and nearly two years later at the 1985 Grammy Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles, California, in the famous synthesizer jam with other contemporaries Howard Jones, Herbie Hancock, and Thomas Dolby. Like “Part-Time Lover”, the song was released with a special 12″ version.

A TECHNICAL NOTE:

I am always trying new things to get the best sound out of my equipment so I purchased a Sovtek 12AX7LPS Vacuum Tube for my Bellari VP130 phono preamp. I have heard good things about pairing this tube with the Bellari phono preamp like a difference in the sound stage and transparency. I have been using the Tung-Sol 12AX7ECC803-S Gold Electron Tube, so it will be nice to see if there is any difference after the Sovtek is broken in. This is the first post using this new Sovtek tube.

The Popinjays – Please Let Me Go (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1990

REQUEST

About this transfer:

I had several issues with this record not sure if it was a bad pressing or not the record looks near mint and unplayed. There is some audible noise especially on track three. I did several adjustments to my stylus including checking the azimuth and tracking force which did not change anything, I even swapped out the stylus for another. I am assuming this is a bad pressing or the record grooves are worn. Had this not been a request accompanied by a donation I probably would have scrapped this project. At any rate this is a fun record hope you enjoy it.

“Please Let Me Go” is the fourth single by British indie pop band The Popinjays. The band was formed by Wendy Robinson (vocals) and Polly Hancock (vocals, guitar), initially with a drum machine.

The single was taken from the bands debut album Bang Up To Date With The Popinjays was released in April 1990.
