I have that same release with the same TSR cat. no but with the standard 8.00min mix. There’s no mention of a ‘Lou Possenti’ edit. Do you have a scan/photo of the inner label as I want me a copy of your pressing 🙂 Keep up the great work
The correct name of side A should be “So Many Men, So Little Time (Vocal Edit)”.
What a thrill to get this from you Paul!! This was massive in the New York Tri-State area!! WKTU played it a lot and all the bars and clubs hopped on it as well. I even remember seeing the video on the television show, “New York Hot Tracks” hosted by WKTU disc jockey and program director, Carlos De Jesus!! Love the lyrics and the count-up to blast off. Kind of like a climax which we can all relate to. I love these NRG tracks that build up and then release. And the way it would crescendo with all those special… Read more »
Sinitta’s mum! And Amii Stewart’s step-sister. (I love trivia, me!)
Another track that reminds me of Palm Springs …
🙂
They really do play a lot of Hi-NRG / 80s Disco there that I’ve never heard anywhere else in the US.
Disco really was beaten back down into ‘just the gay clubs’ in the US in the ’80s but kept going strong in Western Europe (especially the UK & Germany).
Thanks for remastering the vinyl for us!
You’re welcome, Richard. 🙂
Oooh Ian Levine ! This one is super catchy.
Never heard it before.
Another “Heard It Here First” on Burning the Ground.
Thanks Paul !
I’m super happy that you are hearing it on BTG firs Kaex. Enjoy! 🙂
Fantastic! Thank you so much DjPaulT.
You’re welcome Walter 🙂
i like it
That’s great! 🙂
I always loved that song. It’s also one of the first songs I heard on radio the extended 12″ version. It’s the time I became fascinated by these extended remixes. It’s great to get the Instrumental Version in pristine quality. Thank you Paul. It’s the special DISCO week going on.
I have really fun memories with this extended version too Daniel. I just remember how euphoric it made me feel 🙂
I love this song! So classic! It also is a HUGE REMINDER of the Blue Oyster Bar scene in the original Police Academy movie (came out a year after this song)!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niumQLDL_k0 at 0:16 in the movie clip the beats and “feel” sound so much like the 0:16 portion of So Many Men So Many Time!
Thanks for this awesome rip! As others mentioned, your copy is 7:28 while a few other 12″s are 8+ minutes so I will have to go digging and hear the differences.
Thanks so much again!
You’re welcome, Fred. I love the Blue Oyster bar scene thanks for reminding me of it 🙂
Actually on the Police Academy movie scene is no “So many men, so little time”…. is “The boys come back to town” by Earlene Bentley. The two Both songs are very similar because both are from the same Levine & Trench batch.
here’s the song… https://youtu.be/4wOggZb02QA?t=44
Thanks Paul such a wonderful suprise!!!! THANKS
You’re welcome Rafael 🙂
If I could count the number of times I danced to this song in the early ’80s… Thank you for the rip!
Me too Dean it was always a track that brought me to the dance floor really great memories 🙂
So cool as i was recently compiling a Ian Levine compilation for my iphone. I look forward to hearing this production too.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Mark 🙂
AWESOME song. Love it. Have it, of course, although in a different sleeve. One thing though: the A-side of my 12inch has a running time of exactly 8:00. That´s strange. Is it a mistake or is the US 12inch really an edited version? Have to check it later.
My 12″ says 8:00 also but it’s incorrect 🙂
Paulito, “curiouser and curiouser” as Alice says in Wonderland:
my sleeve says 8:00, the label says 8:00 and the actual running time of my 12inch is 8:14! Just hand-stopped it on my Pro-Ject record player.
Just to give you some clues:
– Second verse comes in at 2:12
– The counting (5-10-15-20…) at 4:11
– The verse “So really who cares about love…” at 4:42
– and again (!) at 6:26 after one minute of drums and percussion
– 8:14 The end.
You see, I´m a stickler too 🙂 🙂
The US version really is an edit. I had not been aware of that. Miquel´s verse “So really who cares about love…” comes in at 5:42 on the US 12inch and at 6:28 on my German edition. So there must be even more edits here and there. Fascinating.
Very cool Song And dance I am very happy that we now have the mystery solved 🙂
