Paul thanks for BOTH the Ministry rips. So glad to finally have these clean! Too bad the re-issue of With Sympathy didn’t include all these mixes. Instead we got a terrible ”mix” of Revenge that sounds like a bad studio outtake. Now can some enterprising remix service do a cool mix of Work For Love from the Extended and Dub you preserved? Select Mix hello?

Paul – you are the man! I’ve been a BTG fan since you started your blog and realized that it’s been some time since I left a comment to thank you for your precise vinyl transfers and dedication to uber-quality rips. You are obsessive-compulsive about only releasing the best transfers you can achieve, and as a fellow o/c, I truly appreciate all the time you put into it. Thank you buddy! This brought back great memories of my early years in Chicago. Al Jourgensen used to work the counter at a record store on Clark (or Halsted?) where he would… Read more »

I’m still in celebration over this wonderful rip Paul! You see, early Ministry was a big influence on my musical tastes. I first heard of them through a New Wave radio station out of Philadelphia who played the A-side’s tracks as singles. I had to get the album right away. “With Sympathy” was even the first compact disc I bought when it was later released on CD and I didn’t have a CD player yet. I still can’t believe that Al hates these songs because these are his compositions. Maybe he didn’t like being told “how” to record them, but… Read more »

Just an excellent, excellent choice Paul! Once in a while you just stop by my house and give me the digital rebirth of my favorite 12″es. This one is no exception. Thank you!

I have to say I’m impressed with your work everytime I stop in BTG, I have lot of downloads to make, read (I definitely LOVE your comments, I use to save pages and audios.. I told you this loooooong time ago… in the old site) and listen the precious work you made in every case… too much fun! I use to return here time to time and I find GEMS and GEMS and MORE and MORE! I love all time music in general and I feel a connection in our tastes (Duran Duran, Olivia, Tina, George Michael, Madonna, Cyndi, etc….).… Read more »

Keith isn’t the only one! Paul, likewise, I’ve been waiting many, many years to have a decent quality transfer of the extended version of “Work for Love”! However, your transfer/remaster isn’t decent. It is stunning! At last! Thank you, again, Paul for your wonderful work!

As others have mentioned, this 12″ of “Work for Love” was left off the 2012 Eastworld reissue of “With Sympathy”. Unfortunately, the sound on the reissue is terribly brick-walled, too, so it’s nice having better quality versions of this track.

Thanks so much for this post. I thought for sure I had these mixes in my collection, but I didn’t (well, not until now!).

Jesus H, Paul, I’m knocked over to see Ministry on BTG! I’d say this was second only to Somethin’ Outta’ Nothing in terms of things I’d least likely expect you to post – I love your surprises!

BITD I’d only ever heard rumours of Ministry’s Synthpop past, But never found it myself (I’m talking pre-YouTube of course) so can’t wait to finally hear this!

I’m feeling a full-on RUSH!!! Paul, how many times can I possibly thank you for bringing this gem to light!! Even when they released Ministry’s album “With Sympathy” a few years ago, the 12-inch was sadly left off. I love this first incarnation of Ministry. I know that Alain Jourgensen loathes and despises anything to do with his Arista label, but I just can’t help but enjoy his output in the early eighties. I loved his faux British snarl on here and his “WORK!!” “FOR LOVE” and the wonderful background vocalists. That bass lined and keyboards. This is an all-time… Read more »

I meant to say, additional lyrics, not vocals. Sometimes, I just get too excited for what you do and what I hear and don’t fully concentrate on what I type. Oh Paul, I am just so elated and THRILLED by everything you do. My heart’s beating so fast right now. Only a few more hours to go, and then it’s Ministry worship (actually DjPaulT worship!!) You are a GOD Paul. A God!!!

Reverently,

Jeff
