Mick Jagger – Let’s Work (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987

Happy Labor Day USA!

“Let’s Work” was the lead single from Mick Jagger’s second solo album, Primitive Cool. Despite high expectations, it failed to reach the popularity of earlier Jagger singles such as “Just Another Night.” The music video for the song featured Mick running down a street with several collections of workers. It was the only track from Primitive Cool included on Jagger’s greatest hits album.

The 12″ version of “Just Another Night” was by far the most popular Jagger dance track at US clubs back in the day.. would love to see you post that one. BTW this blog is tremendous, haven’t visited in several years but surprised to see today that you’re still going strong. Cheers

Does Jagger have ANY hit solo singles?

I was going to say that I remember “One Hit To The Body” — but that’s the Rolling Stones, too!

😀

Just another night was a minor hit, certainly not enough for a greatest hits album!

Listening to / watching this on YouTube.

The song is very … meh. I don’t remember it at all.

Bizarre video … he borrows his date’s purse, puts on all her makeup and then performs with an all-black band in a [mostly] black club … except the Spanish guitar solo, when he jumps into a circle of Latin folk (who’ve appeared from nowhere) … and at the end he gets off a Routemaster bus in London in the daylight. Oh, ’80s … you so crazy!

So cool to see another MJ post on BTG. I remember hearing the remix on a mastermix on the radio many years ago whilst living in New York.

Cheers Paul and have a great Labor Day 🙂

That´s really funny – minutes before I got the message that you posted something I wondered whether you might post something on Labor Day 🙂 And how fitting your selection is – again. I love “Let´s Work”. Pity it´s one of the few Jagger 12inches without a dub or instr mix on the b-side. I wasn´t aware the 12inch was a Steve Thompson remix! Now I love it even more haha. I cannot believe “Say You Will” was not chosen for the Greatest Hits cd as well. Maybe we will find the brialliant song here some day 🙂 Happy Labor… Read more »
