BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987
Madhouse is a jazz fusion band from Minneapolis that was created by Prince.
“6” was the first and only single to be released from Madhouse’s first album 8. It was released one week before the album, marking the first official release of any kind by Madhouse.
The single also contained an edit and an extended version of Six, as well as a non-album track, Six And ½. As with the accompanying album, the single’s name is written numerically (6), while the title track is written in full (Six), although the extended version (6 (End Of The World Mix)) is written numerically.
The single failed to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, but reached number 5 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles Chart, number 14 on the Billboard Crossover 30 Chart and number 24 on the 12-inch Singles Sales Chart.

I have to agree that this is an incredible series. An amazing tribute to Prince without actually playing Prince. I had read how he had done some recordings with Miles Davis which have not been released, and while I could see the connection, and see how the two would have worked well together, it really makes a lot more sense in the context of these recordings which were recorded around the same time.
NOW WE’RE TALKIN’! I am almost as excited about the high quality scans as I am about the music itself.
Please, oh please don’t stop these Prince related posts for a while. They have been absolutely amazing.

This is terrific Paul! Thanks so much for this one. As said by another poster, this was a very under-appreciated Prince side project. Prince really was a once in a lifetime talent. I am sorry the world was cheated from ever hearing what he would have come up with in his twilight years had he lived even a couple more decades.

Because of these Prince “directed” singles, I’m finding out so much about his prolific work with other artists outside of his own hits. Thank you Paul for exposing me to your wonderful music collection and all the enchantments they possess. I feel that Prince is shining his purple light on you and you’re positively glowing. I think Madhouse is Prince’s most forgotten project. The albums and extended versions are exceptional. It would be great to have a Madhouse CD box set one day just so that the world could appreciate the music and remember it as being Prince.
