I vaguely remember Julie Brown. Weren’t there 2 Julie Browns on MTV at some point in the 80s? Thank you Paul, for more 80s nostalgia.

I don’t get why her panties look like they have built-in labias. Is that a comedic touch, or a flat-footed try for sex appeal, or just a weird accident?

This was a pleasant surprise! I loved her stuff back in the 80s – I played “Goddess in Progress” and the “Trapped in the Body of a White Girl” album endlessly. I have her other 12″s but someone I missed seeing this one.

This post led me to her site where I’m very pleased to see Goddess in Progress was released on CD with bonus tracks. This ep had the classic “Earth Girls are Easy” which was turned into a fun little film with Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carey, and Damon Wayans.

Thanks for this one!

And don’t forget Paul’s outstanding rip of the “Earth Girls Are Easy” soundtrack song of Royalty’s “Baby Gonna Shake.” Paul really takes us back to the decade we are all crazy about, The 1980’s!!

Thank you Paul for introducing me to Julie Brown. The song is catchy and the remix is awesome. When she sings “you only want him ’cause I want him” makes me think of “I Only Want to Be with You” by Dusty Springfield. I also love the works of Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly who wrote and produced the song. They wrote beautiful songs for the rock band Heart (Alone, I want you so bad).

What a devilishly delightful surprise this is Paul!! You really jolt my memories with the records you pull out!! I adored Julie Brown back in the day, especially with her outrageous singles that were played on the New Wave stations in my area. And now, to have a 12-inch version of her “Girl Fight Tonight!” I am speechless!! The quirky records were my calling card back then, or records that had a certain sound. This is such a treat Paul. You really dive head into the 80’s vault and present things that need to be heard again, to appreciate the… Read more »
