BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
“Running” is a single by the band InSoc (Information Society) originally released on the Creatures of Influence album in 1985. The single for Running was distributed to club DJs, and became a favorite all over clubs, particularly in the Latin clubs of New York City. The original 12″ was released on Wide Angle Records in 1984 this 12″ was released before the song was remixed in 1986 when the band signed to Tommy Boy Records.
Unlike other singles in their catalogue, “Running” does not feature Kurt Harland on lead vocals, as the song was written and recorded by short-lived band member Murat Konar, who left the band in 1985 and would later be an integral part of the development of both SoundEdit (a Mac hosted sound editing application) and Adobe Flash applications.
This original 12″ has become quite rare and pretty expensive.

Hi Paul,
you accidentally called a2 Running (Swamp Mix) too.
Thanks again and all the best, Adam Huemer
oops thank you for letting me know. I was in such a hurry to get this p[osted that I did not check to make sure everything was correct. In any case, I have re-uploaded the files with the correct track name.
You Paul are certainly a revelation!! My gosh, I’m tingling from head to toe!! What a gift to have!! I know we’ve talked about this record and I can’t believe you have it and that you have shared it with us!! I am humbled and feel extremely grateful to you for ripping this for us. My goodness, words are at a shortage. I just love you so very much Paul. Information Society is one of my favorite bands from the 1980’s and I can’t believe what you did.
Bow of appreciation!!
Jeff
I remember we did talk about this one once a long time ago. I apologize for the late post but this was one of those records that were pretty hard to work on for some reason. I am so happy to finally have it on the site 🙂
I realize that, when it comes to you dear Paul, all great things materialize eventually on Burning The Ground. Without you Paul, I wouldn’t ever have gotten to hear — properly, that is — The Puppet’s “The Way of Life” or Royalty’s “Baby’s Gonna Shake” or The Voice In Fashion’s “Give Me Your Love” or Black Britain’s “Funky Nassau”, well, you’ve got the idea. So many incredible musical moments fill and re-fill my life. I would be lost without you Paul and your musical gems.
Jeff
what a great happiness!!!!!
I cry for the thrill of finding this, infinite thanks Paul, this reminds me of my adolescence, millions of memories come to my mind, one of my favorite bands.
Infinitely grateful.
Regards.
Rafa
You are very welcome Rafa 🙂
Wow, this version is very rare. Thank you!
You’re welcome Will 🙂
I have the second edition here:

For a long time thought I it was the original, but did find out later about this one. Glad to have a rip of it until I possess it myself 🙂
Thanks Paul!
BTW, after your InSoc run (hope for a few), any chance at some Secession?
I have that edition too Goodguy along with the third edition released on Tommy Boy Records. I have already posted some Secession and I do have more to post 🙂
Oh, I know! I’m just hoping for even more. 😉
Thanks again!
Seccession was an awesome band. If you can locate their only CD from 1987 called “A Dark Enchantment”, It would be a great investment. It’s one of my all-time favorites.

Have the CD and LP, and a few 12″s. It’s one of the best synthpop albums ever made.
I think there’s a few more gems out there Paul hasn’t posted yet, but, sadly, a reunion is not in the cards. 🙁

I love this band, Paul. Thank you!

You’re welcome Ezequiel 🙂
