BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986
“Missionary Man” is a song by the British pop music duo Eurythmics. It was taken from their sixth album, Revenge, and continued the band’s rock/R&B musical style of the time and featured Jimmy Zavala on harmonica.
In the band’s native UK, it was the fourth single to be taken from the album and peaked at number 31. It was more successful in the United States, where it was the first single to be taken from the album and peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 (becoming their last main US Top 20 hit to date). It also made the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart, and it received extensive airplay on American rock radio, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks, Eurythmics’ only song to top this chart. The single was also a top ten hit in Australia, where it was released as the second single from the album.
“Missionary Man” earned Eurythmics a Grammy Award for “Best Rock Vocal Performance – Group”.

Great job. Compared with the version from Boxed and the Dance Vault Remixes and it sounds identical (EQ-wise) and clean. Perfect! Your new setup works great for this. Now It’s only “Who’s That Girl 12” left with such quality to add to my collection.
One of my faves from the Eurythmics! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for this!

Thank you Paul!!! great Mix.
Another classic from the 80s!
Great quality rip… as usual 😉
Thank you so much Paul!
You’re welcome Gonzalo Jorge Pardo 🙂
Strange i had a feeling that something i really like was going to be posted today as the last truly great post for me was Falco in early June. This is your 19th Eurythmics post since you started (unless we have some deleted ones) in early 2011. A great gap to fill up and a great song that i have loved since release. I am surprised that at this point in their career / lives that they don’t do a lot more as The Eurythmics. Many thanks i’m looking forward to listening to this!
Yeah, I strayed a bit from the synth-pop new wave classic Neil. But I like to change things up for the folks that into more top 40, Hi NRG or disco 🙂
Cool it wasn’t a complaint at all it’s your blog and the best one in existance which is why i’m desperate for so many great 7″s and 12″s that those damn record companies have failed us with! I am very grateful when it’s something that i truly love!
Like Jeff I prefer their more synthy songs but the sound quality of MM is awesome. It sounds much better than on the cd re-release.
Hats off, Paul. Really great quality.
Thank you Song And Dance 🙂
Great track. Thank you!
You’re welcome Alberto 🙂
Paul, I just love having you around. The re-issues have been so disappointing, but you always come through with all the mixes I love with sound that caresses the ear. Thank you for continually digging in your crates to bring out all our 80’s favorites and more!! You really fill me up with emotion and enthusiasm. I loved this Eurythmics release. Although I still love their synth style the best because of the great contrast of icy electronics and soulful vocals, Annie could totally rock out with the best of them. Man, this song jams and I love this mix.… Read more »
Thank you Jeff 🙂
