“Foolish Beat” is the fourth single, and the first ballad release, from American singer-songwriter-actress Debbie Gibson. Originally recorded in the winter of 1987 for the Dream Tour, months prior to its inclusion on her album Out of the Blue, this made Gibson the youngest person to write, produce and sing a number-one single entirely on her own when “Foolish Beat” hit the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the summer of 1988.

In the United Kingdom, the single reached a peak position of number nine on the UK Singles Chart. The single was released in Japan as the B-side to “Out of the Blue” on Atlantic Records Japan.

In 2010, Gibson re-recorded the song as an extra track for the Deluxe Edition release of the Japan-exclusive album Ms. Vocalist.

Hi Paul,

Can you kindly reupload this album? It is, unfortunately, no longer available.

Regards,

Tariq

Thanks Paul, this is one of my favorite Gibster singles – the megamix in particular is excellent since it uses some of the instrumentation from the dubs, not just clips of the extended/club mixes. I agree with Gilbert that the Dream House Mix of Only in My Dreams is one of the best. This re-rip is SO GOOD!!! And, at first I couldn’t imagine it being better than your 2012 rip. You continue to best yourself! Great work and thanks for the great posts this week! I have such fond memories of when these singles were topping the charts –… Read more »

AAAAWWWWWWWEEEEESOME house mix of my favourite Debster track, Only In My Dreams. Great! Never heard it before. I hope my neighbors have grown to like it too 🙂

Next stop Electric Youth, if you please 🙂

Thanks Paul. You´ve made my day again.

I’m sorry I mentioned Foolish Beat being prior to Staying Together without realizing that you has posted it some time ago & I had it on my archive drive.
I know I have the vinyl here too but I can’t find it. Is it a case of old timer’s or simply having too much music? Nah, must be a symptom of Debbie-itis. LOL
I thank you for the re rip!

Hi Paul,
Seems the 24 bit archive is mixed up with the 2012 one : the track one “01 – Foolish Beat” is present two times, the new rip as “Vocal Extended Mix” and the 2012 one as “Extended Mix”, the others ones are the 2012 rips.
It’s the same with the artwork folder : png from 2012 and today’s jpg files coexists.

By the way, thank you for your hard work as always.

Was waiting for this. The Only In My Dreams (Dream House Mix)is the best remix off this song!Somewhat underrated, found out about this particular remix few years back. Thanks Paul. Hope you are well.

Oh how I adore these re-rips Paul!! Thanks a million for re-visiting this one. I love these extended ballads and the medley on the flip is wonderful. You’ve done a fabulous job on Debbie’s past catalog. I am really flipping-out over these twelves. Thanks so much!!
