Thanks paul,

it’s a nice reminder of the early days of the band,
and it’s a decent song too.

as bands get older this will happen more often,
but at least you are preserving their music
for the future.

Thank you Paul for another great Dead or Alive post. It is sad occasion, but this is a great tribute, without this, the music dies too. Thanks to you it lives on. Though I have the box set, I really don’t know where to start with which mix is right or botched. Why true fans like you Paul are not contacted for comprehensive projects is a real mystery. I would love a list of that is wrong with the “corrected” box to know what should be included and what needs to be replaced, and eventually make an appendix disc. Thanks… Read more »

Sad news last week on Steve. Saw it very soon posted on FB by his partner. Can’t believe that there are still DOA posts to be made by you. So many here already. I have this on 7″ since about 1986 and used to play both sides a lot. Fast forward all these years and of course i have ‘Sophisticated Boom Box (two copied in fact included an unopened signed edition). Looking at David’s above comment it seems there’s yet another mistake on that so i’m glad we have something new in this, your awesome rip. Many thanks!

“Sophisticated Boom Boom” is my favorite Dead Or Alive album. I love the ferocity of its tracks and those great female backing vocals. Pete roars on this album and Zeus B. Held is a phenomenal producer. I so wonder what the other albums would have sounded like with him in charge. Paul, thank you for your intense attention to detail. Your Dead Or Alive rips are out-of-this-world!! I can always count on you for pure and outstanding fidelity. This is such a nice tribute to Steve (and Pete!). This song is such a great testosterone raising anthem for the Gym… Read more »

The Dub Version of That’s The Way (I Like It) was previously released on the Japanese versions of “Sophisticated Boom Boom” LP & CD, but it wasn’t titled “Dub”, it was called “Keep That Body Strong (That’s The Way)” (notice the absence of “I Like It” in that title) It is VERY similar to “Keep That Body Strong (That’s The Way I Like It)”, but it has a drum beat lead-in and weird stereo effects panning throughout various parts of the song from left to right (listen with headphones!. When Edsel got the tapes for the box set, I suspect… Read more »

Exactly what he said 😉
I sent a very detailed list of faults in the Boom Box to Edsel. Unfortunately despite pointing many of them out, some still remain.
The vinyl transfers used are terrible.
If only they contacted you Paul 😊

I love DOA and I love the “TTWILI” remixes. On the “Sophisticated Boom Box” edition there is also a dub mix (previously unreleased) which is quite close to this 12inch b-side.

Such a loss. What have we done to deserve this?
Thank you, Paul.
