BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986
NEW 2020 Transfer!
Meticulously Remastered!
Originally posted January 12, 2012
“Cities On Fire” was the second single and follow up to their smash hit “I Wanna Be A Cowboy” by British pop/rock band Boys Don’t Cry from their self-titled debut album. “Cities On Fire”, an energetic rush of synth-rock which was released in 7″ and 12″ remix form, received early attention from MTV but failed to connect with fans of the novelty hit “I Wanna Be A Cowboy” and didn’t receive enough airplay to create a new fanbase. The single failed to chart sealing the band’s fate and turning them into a one-hit wonder.

I like this! Too bad they had a huge novelty hit. Its hard to come back from that.
It reminds me of Wang Chung
Hmmm… I’ve got this one included in my “12” Mega Mix Album” vinyl but it clocks 5:40 and there is not information about the remixer. I have to check this Shep Pettibone one right now! What an awesome week here at DjPaulT’s “Burning The Ground”!
Just realized my version says “U.K. Mix” so definitely this is another one. Cool!
Yeah there is a UK mix not sure who mixed it though. Hope you enjoy the US mix Walter 🙂
Seems like the “U.K. Mix” was made by the in-house team at Maison Rouge studio (in the label is printed “Engineered by Taverner/Harrowell/Potter).
Great to see your past postings come back to life on your site, especially with the way you re-master them. You’re always striving for perfection Paul and we love hearing how you are advancing with your art of the vinyl rip. Exquisite in every way.
Thank you Paul!
Jeff
