Book Of Love – You Make Me Feel So Good (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986

A. Front

“You Make Me Feel So Good” is the third single released by the American synthpop band Book of Love. The song was included on the band’s eponymous debut album Book of Love in 1986. The song was written by band members Susan Ottaviano and Ted Ottaviano.

Although “You Make Me Feel So Good” failed to reach the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it became Book of Love’s first CHR radio hit. The song was remixed for the single by Jellybean and Ivan Ivan. For the 12″ single, album track “Lost Souls” was remixed and extended by Mark Kamins. Also appearing on the 12″ single is the ‘Full Bloom Version’ of “I Touch Roses” which was remixed by Depeche Mode producer and Mute Records founder, Daniel Miller.

Yay!!! Thank you so much Paul! I am in the process of moving into a new home and have not had internet for a few days. After finally getting all hooked up and back to cyber civilization, One of the very first things I did was pull up BTG….I was so surprised and excited to see you had posted not one, but two of my requests!!! You are the best Paul. What a great way to top off a very nice holiday weekend for me 🙂

Such a great 12″ single. Practically a remix EP all on it’s own, with such great versions of two other songs on it.

I miss singles like this. All too soon, it became 6 (often terrible “house” reworkings) of the same song, with almost nothing remaining of the original.

Thanks, Paul, for another dose of pure awesome. Book of Love is one of my favorites from the Eighties and Nineties. And the version of Lost Souls on this 12″ is one their best remixes. Kept hearing rumors that the band was recording new material after their 2001 compilation, but I guess that never amounted to a new album. Que pena!

Never heared of them, but up on first listening.. how very 80’s ! Seldom heared a track that incorporates the sound of the electricly enhanced 70’s and 80’s new wave disco pop into something ..else. Like a Deborah Harry with a fluorensant candy floss in her hand dancing in the dark, to a midi-version of the B’52 on tea instead of coffee..
(So glad about the cover, these days it would be full of those stupid one-eyes and triangles.)

Dirk,

I flipped for your poetic description of Book Of Love’s art. Just beautiful!

Never was into Book Of Love, but this are some fine mixes! Daniel Miller being one of the most important producers ever, in my opinion, I was specially eager to hear his remix of I Touch Roses. Very solid work, but WTF happened at the end of the mix????? What a stupid ending! To much weed or booze involved and fell asleep in the studio while the sampler started skipping and was to lazy to fix this, so just made a fade out??? LMFAO

You do such an amazing job with these records, I can’t thank you enough!

Paul, I am just now seeing your email re: the Erasure Sometimes 2015 EP. By “site” email, I meant the email I sign in here to post comments. I can Dropbox you the stuff if you’re still interested? Also got the new Patrick Cowley EP “Kickin’ In” ripped by a friend in FL. I bought the EP and had it shipped to him to rip as 24/96 FLACs for me as I cannot rip vinyl.

Dearest Paul, I really have to heap on the praise to you for doing these Book Of Love singles. This band really has made an impression on me. Even after all these years, there is something so enchanting about this group. Their songs are sonically sprinkled with Faerie dust and kissed with a magical essence. And you, my dear friend, have lavished special attention to their twelves like I’ve never heard before. I thought I’d never be able to hear these lost dub versions and remixes. Oh, to have the “Spirited Mix” of “Lost Souls” is like receiving an exquisite… Read more »

You’ve renewed my interest in this group, Paul. I’m enjoying them like I haven’t in years. My physical copies (alas, not vinyl) are all in storage so thank you for making these tracks available in such glorious quality.

Paul!!! Quoting the title of this record: You Make Me Feel So Good!! That’s actually an understatement because what you’re doing is so phenomenal in bringing these beautiful Book Of Love singles back into our consciousness. Man, I can actually tear up over these songs. I love this song so very, very, VERY MUCH!! And, wow, “Lost Souls” is on the flip-side remixed by the great Mark Kamins. Some of these mixers and remixers are some of my very favorites and I am flat-out stunned that you have so many singles on your site by these very people that I… Read more »
