Bon Jovi – Wanted Dead Or Alive (Special Rock Radio Edition) (US 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986

“Wanted Dead or Alive” is a song by American rock band Bon Jovi. It is from their 1986 album Slippery When Wet. The song was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora and was released in 1987 as the album’s third single. During a February 20, 2008 encore performance in Detroit, Jon Bon Jovi told the crowd about running into Bob Seger at a Pistons game. As he introduced his song “Wanted Dead or Alive”, he said it was inspired by Seger’s “Turn the Page” hit and called the song the band’s anthem. The song peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #13 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, making it the third single from the album to reach the Top 10 of the Hot 100. As a result, Slippery When Wet was the first hard rock/glam metal album to have 3 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

Considered to be one of the band’s signature songs, it has become known to younger audiences as the theme song for Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch TV show.

The song was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2015.

An unexpected surprise.

It’s nice to hear this song in its original entirety and not the continuously cut-up versions of this song which is one of the best all time rock anthems.

Thanks for sharing this and all the others you have done to make come alive.

Great memories upon hearing this for the first time on the radio. Blaze of Glory was a favourite of mine too from the Young Guns II soundtrack.

Cheers Paul 🙂

I’m with Fred up there. Nice to have a trimmed down version for (me) the casual Bon Jovi listener. Thanks!

Thank you, Paul! Unexpected gift!

A great start to the week.
Yesterday were Roxette, Bon Jovi today.
I didn’t know this song had a different version.

I support all who ask Aerosmith and ZZ Top. 🙂
Also really want to hear your vinyl-rip this single:

P.S.
In the light of recent events, I wish you and your family not to have health problems.

Thanks, Paul! It’s always nice to have an edit of some of these longer rock songs.

Maybe if I click my feet 3 times, and you’re on a rock theme, you may post Aerosmith’s Dude Looks Like A Lady 12″ that I was a fool for never buying. 🙂 John Luongo did the 4 mixes.

Thanks again!

Wow, Fred!! Now that’s an awesome suggestion. I never knew there was a twelve for this song!! John Luongo has always been a very favorite of mine. He always mixed with integrity when it came to the danceable rock track!!

Yes…he also remixed Rag Doll and Love In An Elevator! Yeah, I’m a Luongo fan, too. The remixes of those 3 songs weren’t played very much…at least to my knowledge. I think partly because it was just a weird thought to have Aerosmith remixed. 🙂

I also liked the various ZZ Top remixes back in the day.

Interesting…many thanks for this. Will be interested to see if/how it differs from the official, commercially available version.

Actually MB, if I’m not mistaken, the long 5:07 version is the album version. the second version is just an edit of it that most top 40 stations at the time played. Only album rock stations would play the full version.

It’s so great that you are unpredictable Paul with your postings. One never knows what’s in store for your adoring public. I like when you include these rock classics on Burning The Ground. And so many times what we get is a beautiful sonic reproduction. You certainly care about the end result. Many thanks for your continued artistry in ripping vinyl classics.
