“Promises” was the fourth single taken from Barbra Streisand’s twenty-second studio album Guilty. Produced by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees “Promises”, a more disco-oriented track released in May 1981, reached as high as number forty-eight. This song was also released on Streisand’s first commercially released 12″ single as a solo artist following her 1979 duet with Donna Summer, “No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)”, and two promotional singles released for “Shake Me, Wake Me (When It’s Over)” in 1975, and “The Main Event/Fight” in 1979.

Didn’t you use to offer “Shine, Shine (Extended Version)” by Mr. Gibb? I’ve recently gotten into FLAC playback and was looking for that track.

I have now listened to this re-rip a few times, I must say that it is FAR better than the original rip. Wow, what a difference. Sharper sound in the higher frequencies. A better pressing as well, if I’m correct. Thank you again Paul, I’m very happy with your re-rip.

I have only missed a few downloads before the files were taken down, and this was one of them. I have been anxiously awaiting a rerip. Today is a good day! Thank you 🙂

My wife and I, adored the album upon it’s release and I have to say this is one of the best (uptempo) tracks on the album. I never knew “dance/alternate” versions existed!

Thanks for a real surprise and for the rip, Paul 🙂

The sound isn’t too far off from Daft Punk. This whole album has always been a Guilty pleasure of mine. It reminds me of when I was a child and the family car had a cassette player and this was one of the tapes that got heavy rotation when we would go on trips. Fantastic rip by the way… Thanks Paul.

This is a great re-rip. This one has so more presence in the higher partials, which adds sharpness to the treble and overall clarity. Is the difference in just the needle you’re using? Thank you!

Okay, first let me get some tissues. I’m all wet…. You kept me waiting a long time Paulie! But today is the day we get the all new and excellent re-rip of this rare remix of ‘Promises’. Whoehoe, so verrrrry happy with it. Thanks a million. What a great way to end this week. And I believe, after the terrible massacre in Charleston last week, many people in the US are very happy today as well. Congrats to all the US gays, it took a while, but better late than never shall we say. I’m happy for you, equal rights… Read more »

Paul!! Stefano must be in orgasmic pleasure with this re-rip!! I’m so excited for him. So looking forward to this record too. Reminds me of the old disco Friday’s postings. I’m always amazed by what the community here likes by their comments and such. Things that I absolutely SWOON over, is sometimes met with not much excitement. Ah well, everyone has their faves and I have mine. I hope everyone responds passionately to this record. I love Ms. Streisand!!

Thanks Paul for a fantastic week of postings. You deserve a wonderful weekend!
