Great and good memories, thanks Dj Paul, as always excellent work. Infinite thanks for sharing, for your time and dedication.
This is an unexpected treat! I have the entire series of TVT releases, but I wasn’t aware that this record had ever been released.
Thank you, PaulT!
Hi Paul. Noy only have I been so excited to finally get this beloved record in super quality, but I am loving the feedback from so many others who love this record as much as me. The enthusiasm for it is so celebratory and I see so many new people who have never commented before. You really touch lives Paul.
Jeff
Thanks for this. I have this record and every time I spot it in my collection I debate on digitizing it but never quite landed on the side of “yup!” 🙂
What a gift! I had all of these Tee Tee compilations back in the day, but had no idea they had done this. Fantastic. Thank you so much.
In addition to the TeeVeeToons franchise, Steve Gottlieb expanded indie label TVT by signing or distributing releases for artists as diverse as Shona Laing, Nine Inch Nails, Sevendust, The Ying Yang Twins, Modern English, Rise Robots Rise, The Connells, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, Gravity Kills, Aphex Twin, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Ja Rule, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Ghetto-E, Buck-O-Nine, The Cinematics, 1000 Homo DJs, The JAMs/The Timelords/The KLF, Nightmares On Wax, The Polyphonic Spree, 2Ge+her, Ambulance LTD, Jimmy Page, Naughty By Nature, The Revolting Cocks, Snoop Dogg/213/Snoop Dogg Presents Doggy’s Angels/ Snoop Dogg Presents Tha… Read more »
…Snoop Dogg Presents Tha Eastsidaz/, XTC, Gil Scott-Heron, Yo Gotti, Dashboard Confessional, Default, Towers Of London, the “Mortal Kombat” soundtracks, as well as purchasing Wax Trax! Records including KMFDM, Ministry, Autechre, Front Line Assembly, Psychic TV, Underworld, Front 242, Coil, and Meat Beat Manifesto. These TV albums funded all this. TVT went bankrupt in 2008.
TVT records was one of my favorite record labels ever. Hey, they first introduced me to Nine Inch Nails and distributed the Wax Trax catalog. They were such a forward reaching label. Hey, Ivan Ivan (a producer of whom I love) did the dance mix here too which added to my adoration of its roster.
Jeff
Sadly, Steve Gottlieb was notorious for trying to underpay his artists after getting control of their publishing. Ja Rule and Pitbull famously sued and won cases against him. Unfortunately, this and other litigation over the years bankrupt TVT.
Gottlieb still holds the lucrative publishing; The Orchard holds masters of many of the artists. Trent Reznor’s early TVT albums pay Gottlieb a percentage of royalties for those older albums as a concession to go to Interscope.
I did hear that. Very, very sad.
Jeff
Another fantastic post Paul, Love all the various samples from many of my favourite tv shows.
Have you got Jan Hammer – Crocketts Theme (Ben Liebrand Remix) or anything Miami Vice related with Jan Hammer.
I have on cd Miami Vice II which includes Andy Taylor “When the Rain Comes Down”.
In the 70s and 80s there were many great themes on the box, especially Starsky & Hutch, Charlies’s Angels, Hawaii Five-0 etc.
A little off topic, but TV theme related… Apparently there is a CD out there with the complete version of the Full House theme that includes extra lyrics (I believe those added again for the Fuller House reboot, not just the longer version used on early seasons). If anyone happens to know what that CD is, I’d appreciate knowing.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
You’re welcome, Fred 🙂
Fred!! Both you and I championed this record years ago. I know you’re just as ecstatic as I am over its appearance on Paul’s phenomenal site!! Long live DjPaulT!!!!!!!
Jeff
Many many thanks Paul for this upload, I wrote to you a few months back to ask you about this one, I did not get a response from you, but today, my wish comes true anyway, so I am very very happy to add this to my collection! You do awesome work, you are a true gift for us nostalgics, so again, a million thanks!!
I apologize for not responding as you can imagine I get a lot of emails and requests I do read them all though and fill the requests if I can 🙂
That’s good to know, many thanks again for all you do, keep up the good work my friend, and take good care! 🙂
Good grief, man, you have everything.
I’ve only ever seen a glimpse of this 12″ once in my life … in my record collection. I was certain I had something like the singular pressing, but clearly there were at least 3-4 other copies. Zowie, I never expected to hear of it again.
Enjoy! 🙂
Brilliant. Thank you yet again for your work.
You’re welcome 🙂
Paul!!!!! I feel like I should utter something Robin, the Boy Wonder would say, like, “Holy Hole in a Doughnut” or something wild!! To see this, appear before my eyes, gave me goosebumps and made me lose my breath!! I have been hoping that someday you might post this record!! Man, I am total bliss. This has always been a cult record of mine. Being a Baby Boomer and growing up with all these television shows and swooning over records that sample everything in pop culture, I have searched for this cool record for ages. And knowing that you have… Read more »
My pleasure, Jeff it was a joy working on this project. I hope you enjoy it 🙂
Hello stranger! I’ve been lurking but haven’t said how much I still appreciate your dedication, craft and efforts after all these years. You are one of the best in the business of selflessness. Cheers!
Thank you 🙂
Hey mothloop, so excited to see you comment back here. Miss your input!!
Jeff
YOOOOOOOOO
Thank you so, so much for this. I have a ratty copy of the 12″ on a tape somewhere, but not the dub mix. You’re doing God’s work. 🙂
Thank you, David 🙂
I’ve been looking for these on CD forever. I had a copy on one of my mixtapes that was probably recorded off of a Dr Demonto show. This is a great stop gap until somebody puts it on CD. Thanks!
You’re welcome 🙂
Holy cow, you have this!!!! I had this years ago and never thought I’d hear it again. Thank you so much!!!!!
You’re welcome 🙂
