Two Minds Crack – Cry Cry Cry (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986

REQUEST

A highly recommended new wave/synth-pop single from a really underated band.

“Cry Cry Cry” is a 1986 new wave/synth-pop pop single by Two Minds Crack formed in Port Talbot, Wales in 1980 by Kevin Jones, Mark Davies and Pete Martin. The band released several singles and one studio album “The Victory Parade”. The band were unable to have any chart success and were eventually dropped by their label Sire Records in 1988 just as the band were planning to record a second album. Shortly after, the band fell into obscurity and disbanded.

As a bonus track I have added the “Instrumental 7 Inch” which I lifted from the Uk 12″.

SIDE A:
Cry Cry Cry (Club Mix) 6:24
Cry Cry Cry (Instrumental) 6:00

SIDE B:

Awesome! I was about to post this in my blog this week! But the UK 12”, the US 12” is of course better, they always add more.

Thanks for the post!

I’ve been wanting a decent rip of this since it was 1st released.
LOVE this record, though I think some people bought it for the cover ?

thanks very much paul for this post, they’re very popular here in the Philippines in the late 80’s. they’re most remembered for the song “upside down” here, hope you can post it too or their LP.
thanks

Hi Paul,

I’d never heard of this band or song but took a chance and it was a lot of fun! Thanks for this newfound blast from the past.

Yes, very interesting track, why it didn’t get more attention is a mystery to me. Only thing, to me it sounds much more like Italo-Disco then New Wave, it reminds me of the London Boys.

Great song, played it a lot at the bar when it first came out, fit well right after ‘Coming Out Of Hiding’. Eventually got the LP as a promo, never did see it anywhere for sale. Guess the record company did not support it very well.

I was very confused there for a moment. Cry, Cry, Cry is the name of a Johnny Cash tune as well as the name of a folk band with Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, and Dar Williams. I couldn’t imagine that cover on one of their releases. Have to give this a listen, as I’ve never heard of these guys

LOVE this single. Their one LP, The Victory Parade, is also a great slice of pop from the period. Thanks, as always, for such interesting shares.

I don’t recall this one. But it reminds me a little bit of Heaven 17 (weird, right?). Thanks Paul.

Hey Paul You have delivered this for me and I am absolutely over the chuffing moon! As well as the extended version, you have given us the club mix as well. What a star you are!!! So love this song. It’s definitely up there as one of my all-time favourites from the eighties. It should have been absolutely massive, so it will be interesting to see the response from people who uploaded this as to what they think of the single. A massive, massive thanks for this my friend and as a token of my appreciation, I’ll send a donation… Read more »

Hey Paul, I don’t believe I know this one, but you’ve never steered me wrong when it comes to under rated or under appreciated musical gems. Am extremely looking forward to this one. And many thanks for the added bonus too. You are wonderful for making these things happen.
