BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983
“Watching” is a 1983 song by the British New Wave/synthpop band Thompson Twins. It was released as the fourth single from the album Quick Step and Side Kick (which was renamed Side Kicks in the U.S.), and the song peaked at #33 on the UK singles chart. In the United States the single was not released and therefore did not chart.
“Watching” was recorded at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas. The singer Grace Jones (who had worked with Sadkin on three of her albums by that time) made a guest appearance on the track “Watching”, though her vocals were not included on the track when it was remixed and released as a single in mid-1983.

I’m happy to hear that you’re feeling better Paul 🙂
Thanks so much for this upload too… Brings back memories of simpler teenage days. Back then I used to skip past this track on the album thinking it was a bit weird for my taste but this single version is a big improvement in my opinion. Still not sure whether it was a good choice for a single though 🙂 Thanks again
Not including Grace on the remix ???!
TRULY A CRIME ..
thanks for this version….never heard this remix
Good to see you back Paul. Hope your recovery (Recovery – one of my favourite Olivia songs) lasts longer this time xxx.

Thank you Brian 🙂
Welcome back Paul!
Correct me if I’m wrong – but doesn’t Grace Jones provide the backing vocals for this?
Thanks Todd 🙂

OMG i asked for this about 2012 and again a few weeks ago. Amazing. I was shocked when i came here and saw this. Expected to see no post again. Then saw the best post ever! Thanks. And glad that you are better!
You’re welcome NKelly sorry it took so long. Enjoy!
No problem don’t be silly just a suggestion / request to a gap that needed filling after so many compilations and not one featuring this superior 7″ remix! BTW where do i go to request a 12″? Anywhere in particular? I have one more which is amazing and has never came out on CD. Thanks again
Glad you’re feeling better, DJP!
Thank you Mike 🙂
Glad you’re feeling better. Great post too .
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Junior 🙂
Thanks Paul for this excellent single . Most importantly glad to know you’re feeling better. Hope you stay well! Please post Sister Of Mercy next.
Thank you Omar I am glad to be back. More TT definately coming my friend 🙂
Thanks so much for working on and posting this, a quality rip of this release is great to have because this particular version (the 7″ remix) was omitted from the recent reissue of “Quick Step & Side Kick”.
You’re welcome Bill 🙂
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. And what a comeback single! The A-side mix has never been released on CD, despite dozens of Greatest Hits & album re-issues. My copy of this single arrived via mail order warped beyond being able to play, so it’s great to finally get a good, clean copy of this to enjoy.
Thanks David! Enjoy the single 🙂
Welcome back…hope your health is improving!!!
Thank you Silver Blue. Feeling better 🙂
Great that you’re back. Hope all is well!
Thanks Stefano just a bought with pneumonia. Glad to be feeling better 🙂
