Thompson Twins – In The Name Of Love (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1982

Hey there Paul,
Thanks for this. I first heard “In The Name Of Love” on the soundtrack to Ghostbusters. That was a fun little cassette that included a hard to find Laura Branigan track “Hot Night”.
Thanks again, and live stong buddy.

paul, thanks for the great upload. i’m a big fan of the mid thompson twins era. although i favor the sidekicks/quickstep releases. this release was important because it defined the direction they were going. and it was a cool callback they would use in latter songs also. they re-released it in 1988, but the original mix is the better one. i think they had too many people in the band, which is why they slimmed down to a trio (mostly) for the next few albums, before becoming a duo. thanks for keeping the classics alive, and promoting the bands worthy… Read more »

Awesome :-), Great opening for valentine week thank you, Paul.

I Believe TT have several versions of this song the longest one is the Big Value Version 7:07 minutes long and there is also the Railroad Version from ’88.

All this talking about extending Love Week it reminds me “The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis & The News, “Love Moves In Strange Ways” by Blue Zoo (1981), and “It Must Be Love” by Madness.

I’d second Madness’ It must be love! FYI, Paul has posted the ’88 12″ BTW which i think (whatever one he posted) includes the Railroad version

Thanks so much for this Paul. I first heard this song on the Ghostbusters soundtrack back in ‘84, and that was the beginning of me becoming a fan of their earlier music. Great start to Love Week, keen to see what you have in store forcall of us.

Hugs
Dean

Dearest Paul Good to have you back. I hope you enjoyed your birthday and had a good start into the second half of your lifetime 🙂 And how could one start better into a week of love than with a song called “In The Name Of Love”. It still is one of my favourite TT tracks although I´ve never lost the feeling that it still could have become a bit better. The song itself as well as the uk 12inch version. Bit boring in its structure but still a great song. Or is that a contradiction? I haven´t played the… Read more »

Happy Week of Love Paul and BTG readers/listeners!! What a great way to start the week Paul!! I love this song!! Brings back so many happy memories too. It was my first introduction to this band and it was so great to hear them early on before they exploded on the scene. I love the cover of this UK 12-inch too. Oh Paul, you have such a big heart full of so much light and love that it makes my heart beat faster!!

Hugs,

Jeff
