BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983
The Sisters of Mercy are an English Gothic Rock band that formed in 1980. After achieving early underground fame in UK, the band had their commercial breakthrough in mid-1980s and sustained it until the early 1990s, when they stopped releasing new recorded output in protest against their record company. Currently, the band is a touring outfit only.
On 15th October 1983 Temple Of Love entered the UK Independent Charts peaking at #1. After the success of “Temple of Love”, the band signed a contract with major record label WEA.
This 7″ contains the original 1983 version of “Temple Of Love” which has not been released on CD.

I must be blind as a bat. I found the pw password. Sounds fantastic.
How can I un-rar TOL24.rar? I need a password for the last step. Thanx
What a nice suprise here ! Thanks a lot
Body & Soul 12″ 24/96 rip is available on demonoid.me , quality is ok.
Man! I did a double take seeing The Sisters in here! Wow! Awesome! It does seem like your raiding my record collection sometimes (and I love it when you do)! Thanks ever so much for your efforts (ie. the webhosting).
As for vinyl SoM, as far as I know, it’s the re-recording of Body Electric that has yet to make it’s way to a CD release, whether bootleg or official. The original version is on CD but not the re-recorded version (which is much, much better). And I don’t think Afterhours is on CD either…hmm…gotta go diggin’
Thank you, Paul 🙂
Thanks a lot for this gem!! Please more Sisters,Mission, Cure, Bolshoi (!!!)…
Thanks again! Cheers
Many thanks for this. I had all the Sisters stuff on vinyl years ago and have since got the cd re-releases. As commented by others, the tracks never made available on CD are Temple Of Love 7″ and the four tracks from the Body And Soul EP. Another one that I am not 100% sure about is the Lucretia My Reflection 12″ (the version on A Slight Case Of Overbombing is edited at around 8’43”. The original 12″ is around 9’48”). The b-side of the Lucretia 12″ – Long Train (1984) – is released on CD on the First And… Read more »
The track Body And Soul appears on A Slight Case Of Overbombing CD compilation.
Lucretia My Reflection (Extended Remix) was released last year on 12″ 80s Alternative

Yep, you’re right about Body And Soul. Many thanks for the tip on finding the full Lucretia 12″ version!
Lucretia My Reflection (Extended) version which ticks 9.52 is on 3″ cd single, i can up flac+cue rips of all 8 regular singles, promos only in mp3.
ooh, thanks you paul! i’ve never heard the 7” version before as i’ve only heard the extended version that was on the “some girls wander by mistake” cd.
Wow – unpredictable – maybe if u start a new blog you could call it that. (lol) Fantastic ‘Post’ again!
Hey Paul, thank you for this gem. I took the liberty to slightly rotate, remove dust particles and blacken the cover image you posted:

Thank you Paul, I never heard the 7″ version. This song brings back some very hazy memories of High School!
You’re welcome Tyson 🙂
DJPaulT – just wondering if you’ve recently changed whatever packing software you use? I’ve been having trouble with both this and the previous Puss n Boots files (mp3s and flacs).
(got a freeware unrar thing to crack them open in the end but just wondered)
No have’nt changed anything.
Paul, thank you so much for this! I always wanted the 7″ version.
You’re welcome Keith!
Does this mean that this is the version that charted and went to #1 as mentioned in the info?
Kind of. It was number 1 in the Independent Charts though, not the UK Top 40.
There were two versions released, this 7″ version, and an extended version on the 12″ (available on the Some Girls Wander CD). I guess they both counted, chart wise.
The song was also re-recorded and released in 1992 with Ofra Haza on vocals.
Black wind come carry me far away, indeed!
Saw The Mission on here, but really didn’t expect any Sisters. Thanks. :))
I’m sure there’s a couple more early Sisters tracks still not on CD… might we see any more?
Just been busy researching – it’s the Body & Soul 12″ that’s the only other Sisters vinyl to contain non-CD tracks.
🙂
As fas as I know there are several songs and versions that never made it to CD – most of them can be found on this bootleg (the songs are mostly taken from vinyl sources and are ripped nowhere near as good as it is usually done here on this blog), which is obviously titled to serve as a logical successor time-wise to “Some Girls Wander By Mistake”: http://sisterswiki.org/Some_Boys_Wander_By_Mistake Anyway, haven’t thanked DJ Paul for all the great stuff here as I usually come a few posts too late to really partake in the conversation (and for most discussions the… Read more »
All the ‘vinyl’ tracks on that complilation did get released a couple of years ago on the re-issues of First And Last And Always (apart from the Body & Soul tracks, as I stated earlier).
You just never know what might turn up here on BTG!
Oooohhh… if that particular article did it’d be awesome!
