“Working Girl” is a single by British band The Members originally released in 1981 and produced by Steve Lillywhite. The Lillywhite version failed to have any chart success. In 1983 the song was remixed and produced by Martin Rushent this version was used on the album Uprhythm, Downbeat peaking at #34 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in March 1983.
This 7″ contains the original 1981 Steve Lillywite mix.

It’s also a shame that people like you aren’t hired to do the vinyl transfers. It amazes me how many crackly, distorted transfers make it on official releases.
The main issue with the 2005 reissue of “Uprhythm, Downbeat”, other than the shoddy vinyl transfer of the ’81 version of “Working Girl”, is the loudness factor. It’s been brick-walled. It is not the worst offender by any means, but it’s still too loud. The integrity of the original recordings has been somewhat lost.
Ahhh, the early days of MTV. That’s where I first heard this one. Loved it then and still do now. Thanks to you, so nice!
