Burning The Ground Exclusive 1987
TOTALLY OBSCURE 80s!
“Please Yourself” was the second charting single by English New Wave band The Big Supreme, featuring vocalist Barry Flynn.
“Please Yourself” entered the UK singles chart in February 1987, reaching a peak of number 64, and was in the chart for five weeks. After this release the band split. Vocalist Barry Flynn would release a solo single in 1989 as Flynn called “The Only One”, whilst keyboard player Robin Hild had brief success in America as part of the duo Scarlett and Black.

Thank you Paul!. Barry Flynn’s The Big Supreme/Bonk Projects are very underated. Very glad to hear this song in glorious HR
Well, I thought I was on top of all the music happening back in ’87 but I somehow missed this gem. Thanks for the share!
They weren’t promoted so easy to have missed them. Glad you like it. 🙂
Great song and new to my ears! They certainly have the sophistipop image like Johny Hates Jazz, etc. Thanks Paul!!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound 🙂
This is a new discovery for myself too. I love the production on both sides.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Marco 🙂
Fantastic post! Thank you so much Paul. Awesome song and mix. I already loved their “Don’t walk” which I discovered here. It’s so good to discover “new music” 🙂
You’re welcome :0
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC SURPRISE!!!
The Big Supreme was a fantastic band and I’m glad finding them here.
If there’s more, please keep it coming!!! Thanx for this 🙂
Greeetings from Brazil
I agree they really are a great band, Juliano. I wish they would have recorded an entire album but they only made four singles.
Wow, thanks for this! I have never heard of this band or song but it’s quite amazing. Feels like the theme to an unmade spy movie.Love the production.
Glad you liked it Jon 🙂
Awesome post, Paul! Thank you so much. “Don´t Walk” will remain my favourite but I´m so happy to have “Please Myself” in Paulian quality 😉 And now I´m hoping for the completion of the quartet: Only “Let´s Turn Our Love Around” / “He´ll Deceive” is missing now. I bought that in a bunk deal years and years ago but it is in sub par condition, to put it mildly.
Thanks again, Paul. 🙂
I will see what I can do Song And Dance 🙂
With that great subtitle, “Do The Horsey Dog”, this sounds very interesting!! Thank you Paul for these “new” songs!! Can’t wait to check it out!! Awesome!!
Jeff
