BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1980
“Give Me Back My Man” is a song written and recorded by the American rock band The B-52’s. It was released as the second single from their 1980 album Wild Planet and is one of many solo vocal performances from Cindy Wilson in the band’s earlier years.
“Give Me Back My Man” was a staple in The B-52’s concerts in the 1980s and was usually one of the first few songs played. Early on, it was played just as it was on the record, with Schneider playing extra synth and glockenspiel. After the release of the Party Mix! album in 1981, the band performed “Give Me Back My Man” and others in the extended style in which they were presented on that album. The song was re-integrated into the set of the B-52’s 2008 Funplex tour.
The “Party Mix” of the song charted on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart along with album track “Party Out of Bounds” and prior single “Private Idaho”, reaching number five (chart rules at the time allowed multiple album tracks to occupy the same position together). Released as a single in the UK, it hit number sixty-one on the UK Singles Chart.

Thank you 🙂
Thanks again Paul.
🙂
Thanks Paul. One of their early standout singles .
Thanks for this post! I had this edition but lost it during one move or another; I’m happy to have it back, even if only digitally!
You’re welcome VanceMan 🙂
Thanks for this oldie but a goodie!
You’re welcome Bobbih2 🙂
Haven’t said hi in a little bit. Hope all is well. This 7” is a welcome surprise. My copy is quite crackly so I will be replacing it with your rip straight away. Thank again Paul!
Good to see you Mothloop. Have a great weekend 🙂
Can Fridays be any more special!?! Paul, you always usher in the weekend with fantastic choices and this one in particular is awesome! Thank you so much for everything and have a tremendous weekend.
Jeff
Have a blast of a weekend Jeff 🙂
And straight out of the blue comes another The B-52’s gem. Oh joy. Thank you so, so much. Hope there’s more to come – there’s so much out there not accounted for!
‘Version’ sounds great. Think i’m right in saying ‘a’ side is the standard LP version. I must admit i never knew (i think) that the single was also released here in the UK again in 1981 as a 7″ in it’s ‘Party version’. B side may be an exclusive there too. Do you have it by any miracle? It’s really cheap on Discogs but of course postage to the USA will be the issue… http://www.discogs.com/B-52s-Give-Me-Back-My-Man-Party-Mix/release/841908
Sorry Neil don’t have it at the moment.
Cool, just wondering.
I adore The B-52’s and you keep coming up with stuff I didn’t even know existed!!! Thank you so much, Paul! 🙂
You’re welcome Marty 🙂
How (as a fan) can you not know this existed? Try discogs to see what The B-52’s have released so far.
I didn’t even know they were American until today’s post. 😀
Huh? Really? Or was that sarcasm, Jermajesty. What country are you from?
Because my Australian mates used to rave about B-52s, I just assumed they were Australian.
Easy mistake to make Jermajesty I once thought they were british 🙂
