I’m not really familiar with these tracks and they seem slightly quirky and not the type you’d expect to see promoted on a 12 inch single. Am I to interpret them as Slippery People Making Flippy Floppy? Given the time that would be a strange thing to do because your not supposed to get floppy disks wet. 😉
Brilliant post! Slippery People is one of my favourite Talking Heads songs and i dont own this one on vinyl so much appreciated!
Heaps of praise Paul for doing this Talking Head track. I feel that these two tracks have all been forgotten over the years. I haven’t seen them on any compilation that I can think of and I never hear them on the radio. Jellybean did such an awesome job on the remixes. Ah, those were the days. My first exposure to Talking Heads was their “Life During Wartime” record that was included on the PHENOMENAL movie soundtrack for “Times Square.” This double record set contained new wave/punk recordings that were so edgy and incredible that they made quite the impression… Read more »
hi paul, i’m a minor talking heads fans. i liked a few of their earlier songs, like once in a lifetime, and take me to the river, and psycho killer, but that was it. when ‘speaking in tongues’ came out, i didn’t get the cd until much later on. well i then got it on vinyl, but the versions were slightly different, and then i found out that the cassette had longer remixes of several of the songs too. i’m glad they had 12 inch mixes of the other songs too. love the artwork too. well, way later they reissued… Read more »
Never a huge Talking Heads fan but I do love some of their material “Road To Nowhere” is a standout to me. “Burning Down The House” and “Days Go By” were the radio-friendly tracks. I really like this set of mixes though too bad they have been overlooked. 🙂
Still have this vinyl, wonderful mixes – as good as the album mixes.
One of my favourite bands. This is a real treat.
Thanks Paul 🙂
Thanks very much for this hard to find 12″. Cheers Jason

The more I hear commercial radio today, the more I miss the music from the 80s!
The Talking Heads are a tonic to get me through the day.
Thanks, Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Muff Diver and I completely agree 🙂
