Billy Idol – Eyes Without A Face (US 12″ Promo)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1984

Request

“Eyes Without a Face” is a song by the English rock musician Billy Idol, from his second studio album Rebel Yell (1983). It was released in June 1984 as the second single from the album. The song is softer and more ballad-like than most of the album’s other singles. It reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Idol’s first top-10 hit in the US. The recording features the voice of Perri Lister—she appeared in the banned video for “Hot in the City”—who sings “Les yeux sans visage” (French for “Eyes without a face”) as a background chorus. The title of the song refers to the English title of French director Georges Franju’s horror film Les Yeux sans visage (1960). The “Single Version” was not included on the 2024 expanded Edition of “Rebel Yell”.

Dead Or Alive – “Youthquake” Medley (US 12″)

Burning The Ground Exclusive 1986

“Youthquake” is the second studio album by the English pop band Dead or Alive, released on 3 May 1985 by Epic Records. The album was their commercial breakthrough in Europe and the United States, due to the lead single “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)”, a UK No. 1 hit and a Top 20 hit in the United States. Additional single releases from the album included “Lover Come Back to Me”, “In Too Deep” and “My Heart Goes Bang (Get Me to the Doctor)”.

This was Dead or Alive’s first collaboration with the Stock Aitken Waterman production team. The recording was marked by tension and clashes between the band and producers, which engineer Phil Harding alleges almost escalated to violence.

In 1986 one of the most influential Remix services Razormaid released Chapter A.2 which included a medley of tracks taken from “Youthquake” along with a remix of the downtempo album track “It’s Been A Long Time” Both were remixed by Razormaid c-founder Joseph watt.

Both tracks were originally released on Yellow transparent vinyl on the issue Razormaid Chapter A.2. I also created custom art for this release.
