Thompson Twins – Revolution (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

“Revolution” is a 1968 song originally recorded by the Beatles, written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon–McCartney.

English pop band Thompson Twins covered “Revolution” on their 1985 album Here’s to Future Days, from which it was released as the fourth and final single and includes the non-album track, “The Fourth Sunday” as its B-side. The song peaked at No. 56 on the UK Singles Chart, spending five weeks on the chart. The band made a promotional video for the single version of the song. This is one of three tracks on the album that feature guitarist Steve Stevens, best known for his work with Billy Idol.

Thompson Twins also performed the song with Stevens, Madonna and Nile Rodgers at Live Aid in July 1985.

“I Wanna Suck Your…”

“Drac’s Back” is a song written and originally recorded by British singer/actor Andy Forray. In 1982 The Bollock Brothers a British Punk act formed in 1979 released the song as a single under the name Red Lipstique. In 1986 the song was re-released as The Famous Bollock Brothers backed with “Horror Movies” which had been released as a single in March 1983. Both tracks received airplay on the famous L.A. radio station KROQ.

“Million Headed Monster” is the seventh single released by I Start Counting an electronic music duo from North London. The band consisted of David Baker and Simon Leonard. “Million Headed Monster” was released on Mute Records and taken from the band’s second album “Fused”. “Million Headed Monster” would be the last single the duo released under the name I Start Counting.

Tina Turner – I Can’t Stand The Rain (UK 12″)

“I Can’t Stand the Rain” is a song originally recorded by Ann Peebles in 1973, and written by Peebles, Don Bryant, and Bernard “Bernie” Miller.

In 1984 Tina Turner recorded “I Can’t Stand the Rain” for her fifth solo album, Private Dancer, and released it as a single in early 1985 in Europe. Turner’s version would find minor success in the UK reaching #57, but would be a success in Germany #9, Austria #6, Switzerland #15 and Ireland #20.
