The title is a tongue-in-cheek nod to Chatelaine, a Canadian women’s magazine that once named lang their “Woman of the Year” before she came out publicly. With a wink and a twirl, lang reclaims the title in this swooning, romantic tune—drenched in lush orchestration and playful irony. OMD – Sailing On The Seven Seas (US 12″ Promo) (1992)

Released in the UK on 18 March 1991, “Sailing on the Seven Seas” was the lead single from OMD’s eighth studio album, Sugar Tax. It marked a new chapter for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, as founding member Andy McCluskey carried on the band name as a solo venture following the departure of co-founder Paul Humphreys.

Bold and unexpectedly bombastic, the track blends OMD’s pop-electronic roots with glam rock swagger. With lyrical nods to Sister Ray by The Velvet Underground and My Generation by The Who, McCluskey described the sound as “OMD goes glam rock.” The result is a hook-heavy, dancefloor-ready anthem that injected new life into the band’s career.

The single was a major success, reaching #3 on the UK Singles Chart, their biggest hit since “Souvenir” in 1981. It also found favor on U.S. dance floors, peaking at #9 on the Billboard Dance Chart—despite not receiving a full commercial release in the States. In the U.S., “Sailing on the Seven Seas” was issued only as a 12” promotional vinyl and a cassette single, making its chart success there even more impressive.

A powerful reinvention and a statement of resilience, “Sailing on the Seven Seas” proved that OMD could navigate the shifting tides of the early ’90s music scene—and still come out riding high.

“I Need Love” is a1992 single produced by Giorgio Moroder and recorded by English-born Australian singer, songwriter and actress Olivia Newton-John. The track was one of four new songs recorded for Olivia’s third Greatest Hits compilation Back To Basics: The Essential Collection 1971-1992.

A safe-sex anthem about wanting love before sex “I Need Love” was meant to be a comeback for Newton-John however just as the song entered the Billboard charts Olivia was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. A worldwide concert tour that had been scheduled was cancelled and Olivia was unable to promote the single. At the same time, Olivia’s father also died from liver cancer.

On July 11, 1992 “I Need Love” peaked at #96 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #44 on the US Dance chart. In the UK “I Need Love” peaked at #75.

“Sex on Wheelz” is a 1992 single by industrial disco band My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Taken from the LP “Sexplosion!” the single peaked at No. 15 on the U.S. Billboard dance Chart on July 27, 1991, as well as reaching No. 23 on the Modern Rock Tracks Chart. “Sex on Wheelz” appeared on the latter chart again, with its Cool World soundtrack remix, when it peaked at No. 17 on August 15, 1992.
