BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986
“Twilight World” was the second US release from the album It’s Better to Travel. This song was the subject of many remixes and was a dance club favourite worldwide. The song’s debut on the US dance chart was on December 19, 1987. After spending ten weeks on the survey the song peaked at #10 making it Swing Out Sisters highest charting dance single in the US.
The original title for this song was “Tomorrow’s Dream”.
According to drummer Martin Jackson the song was “taught” to him by aliens after a UFO landed on his roof.
The beginning of the song is the Shibuya train terminal announcer in Tokyo!

Hi Paul, there are a few other SOS mixes that didn’t appear outside the US, like for instance the Pop Stand Mix of ‘Surrender’ mixed by Justin Krauss. The US Mercury 33 rpm PRO 588-1 has that mix on the full A-side (therefore this pressing offers the best vinyl quality). The great Stuff Gun Mix is on the full B-side. Maybe you can continue this excellent and highly embraced SOS series next week? Many BTG’ers will share the same wish.
Hi Stefano I don’t have the promo but I do have the standard US 12″ which is mastered at 33 RPM. Aside from that the only other SOS single I have is “Fooled By A Smile” not sure if it’s UK or German it’s still sealed will have to check.
Hi Paul, such a shame the record label chose to put ‘Who’s To Blame’ first on that B-side (you can’t have it all). But 33 rpm certainly helps to retain the vinyl quality in the last minutes a bit more than at 45 rpm. Still, PRO 588-1 gives the best reproduction of this mix. Phonogram 12 inch releases from the UK or Germany were never ever factory sealed, so your copy of ‘Fooled By A Smile’ is probably a US or Canadian release (or the seller re-sealed the UK or German pressing and sold it as new and factory sealed).… Read more »
This one is on the Mercury label and is factory sealed. I have bought many singles from the UK and Germany over the years that were factory sealed.
You’ll have to wait and see about next week it’s Thanksgiving week and I already had other plans in mind but we’ll see.

I don’t know maybe they are sealed for import to the US. Actually the record i am posting today is still in it’s original shrink wrap and it’s from Holland. It’s a mystery.
On the same note I have also bought many that were not sealed.

This is the 12″ that I LOVE! Thank you! The 12″ Remix is insanely good and Paul, your rip, is absolutely immaculate. The 12″ singles from SOS’s first album always struck a chord with me. This single in particular shows a really strong “extended version” that was so great in the late 80s. Bananarama’s 12″ mixes were also particularly good and never disappointed.
I will be cranking this as well as the other mixes from yesterday’s post. I am on cloud 9 right now. Thank you Paul. You are a master.
