Thank you, Paul. This song was a decent hit in Australia.
I’d also love to see “Drive” and “Soviet Snow” posted, if at all possible.
Both are great remixes.

Hi Paul, thanks for this extended cut. There is another mix, a few years ago, but not extended. In my mind, the better one.
thank you for sharing your music with us

It’s possible you’re thinking of “Not A Kennedy” on Shona’s Genre album from 1985, released two years before this mix.

There’s also an acoustic version simply titled “Kennedy” on her Pass The Whisper album from 2007.

Though I’ve just learned that the European (and probably Australian) 12″ release of “Glad I’m Not A Kennedy” has a different cover and track listing. It may be the version you’re thinking of is on the B-side of that release. According to Discogs it’s about 20 seconds shorter than the 7″ single mix. Maybe it’s an instrumental…?

Thank you very much for this rare treat Paul. If you are able to hunt down and use your magic on her remix of “Drive” that would be really appreciated. Cheers from Oz.

Wow, what a nice track! Never heard about it. Totally obscure 80s, and kiwi, this is great. Thank you so much for the share.

Thank you DJ Paul, hope you are well. So excited about this post since i’m a follower of Shona Laing’s mixes. They are quiet a rarities since i don’t believe there ever was a cd single containing this mixes. Would love for you to do your magic touch on her single, Soviet Snow with remixes from Justin Strauss. Again, no cd single released containing mixes of Soviet Snow so this would be a treat for us.

I think you’re right. Discogs lists a CD Maxi release of Glad I’m Not A Kennedy but it’s only a 3″ disc (with the US cover art) without any remixes on it. Evidently it’s quite rare. A CD Maxi is also listed for Drive Baby Drive but again without any remixes on it. Going by Discogs, Soviet Snow was only issued on vinyl. There is however a 6:43 remix of Soviet Snow available as a digital bonus track for the “South” album on Google Play (and presumably iTunes). From the track length I suspect this is “Soviet Snow (Popstand mix)”.… Read more »

I can’t say I really remember this song, but then again, I am doubting myself. I love these sorts of things. Maybe it was back in college, I can’t say, but I LOVE being intrigued by totally cool music. Wow Paul, what gifts you give us. I recently made a compilation for a friend with some of your rips and they didn’t disappoint. You are just a phenomenal DJ in my book. Thanks for…..EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’re not KIDDING about this a totally obscure 80’s lost classic.

While this song has left my memory banks, I do remember this song being a butt of jokes in the radio market when it first came out. And it did well. Glad to see this again.
