“Do It For Love” was the first single released from Sheena Easton’s seventh studio albu “Do You”. The song was produced by Nile Rodgers, the song and album marked a change from her pop sound to a funkier more club/dance feel. “Do It For Love” peaked at #29 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and #21 on the Hot Dance Club Play Chart in 1985.
The 12″ versions were remixed by James Farber who had also remixed “Angel” and “Material Girl” for Madonna.

Demo originally sang by Regina (of Baby Love fame) Sheena sang it the way Regina sang the demo.
Thank you so much for Sheena Easton!!
Made my day!
Nile Rodgers production just never sounds dated
What a treat Thank you Thank you!
These mixes are nice, i remember those remixes James Farber did for Madonna too.
Thanks for the 2023 transfer, Paul 🙂
Thanks so much for this! I absolutely adore this song — one of my favorite Sheena songs of all time! I know Do You isn’t Sheena’s most beloved album, but I thought it was a fantastic production with a bunch of great songs on it. “Do It for Love” is the best of the bunch, as far as I’m concerned. I like the 12″ remix even better than the album version, too, so I’m very happy to get a perfect high-res transfer of it thanks to you!
Thank you for this! This is my favorite Sheena Easton album, and this song is on a few walking playlists, I don’t tire of it’s groove. I’ve read it’s Easton’s least favorite recording sessions but other than the rather silly 50s panto of Jimmy Mack, the songs are consistently good and really well produced. The Singles set released last year reminded me how much I enjoyed some of her 80s pop. I’m looking forward to the Do You album reissue coming this year, fingers crossed.
Thanks again!
Thank you, Paul, for this new transfer! Please know that I love to get music from you on an almost daily basis. And know others are just as grateful. No one does what you do. You are preserving lost 12-inch versions that rarely make it to a physical release. With you, quality is paramount. You also give us great “liner notes” (if you will) so we don’t have to look for other sources to find the details. And forgive my soap boxing, but even recent box sets leave out the who’s who of who did what. I find that very,… Read more »
Actually you first posted this 14 July 2010. The 2013 was (in your own words)…”Re-Rip Remaster. Originally I posted this one back in July 2010. But for those who may have missed it or if you are a new reader just discovering BTG. I decided to give this one a new rip with my newer Ortofon 30 stylus.”
Either way it is a new transfer 🙂
Any chance of a Burt Bacharach song uploaded? He passed away last week. One of the great American songwriters.
