It features a new line-up of Delisa Davis, Micki Free, and Howard Hewett (Davis and Free having replaced Jeffrey Daniel and Jody Watley who had both left the group after the release of the previous album “The Look”). Thanks for the post. Just a note that, although Shalamar’s song was on the soundtrack album, it was not in the movie. Conversely “Nasty Girl” by Vanity 6 was in the movie, but not on the album.
I didn’t know about these remixes, although the soundtrack was nearly always in my cassette deck back then.
Louil Silas Jr. did some cool remixes during this time.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome, Marco 🙂
Thanks Paul!!!
You’re welcome, Carlos 🙂
I have your original rip, and as good as that is this is worthy (and due) for a new transfer. From the landmark movie and soundtrack! Definitely a soundtrack to my life growing up and no doubt millions of others… The hits kept on coming!! Glenn Frey’s The Heat Is On – one for the ages. Boy were we spoiled! 1984/85 were the best two years in music history. Thank you Paul!!
You’re welcome, Retro Hound. Thank you for appreciating great music 🙂
Thanks for the post, Paul! I don’t think I’ve ever heard this song before. On a side note, any chance you could post Seduction’s You’re My One And Only? Specifically this 12″ with these mixes pretty, pretty please: https://www.discogs.com/release/359042-Seduction-Youre-My-One-And-Only-True-Love. The Underground Mix is slammin’ and easily findable on Youtube if people want to check it out. Thanks so much, Paul! Have a great day!
I will try to track down a copy after the fundraiser.
YEAH! How I adore this track and its parent albums. The soundtrack rocks, but Shalamar’s Heartbreak, albeit with a post-Jody lineup, is one of my favorite 80’s albums! So cool to have this remix now!!!! Thanks Paul!!!
Oh: side note. The expanded CD edition of Heartbreak that came bundled with The Look does not include this remix, even though it has other remixes added!
I am happy to hear that you like this one, ING. The Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack was everywhere during this period and produced some great singles.
A wonderful re-rip, Paul. I have been digging into Shalamar for a bit and I am grateful for this 12-inch version.
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff 🙂
