Thanks for this great topic with good information. Great job
Thank you! This was my absolute favorite song in high school. Steve Masters regularly played it on Live105 and every couple of years I poke around the web looking for it. Finally!!!
I’m a little late getting to these ones. I only know of this song “The Magician″ and also “Touch”. I LOVE “Touch” and hope you post that Twelve-Inch someday. That’s an amazing track. I love this one too. I am not really familiar with any of Secession’s other songs, so look forward to any others you post. Thanks Paul.
Hey Paul!
Wonderful surprise! Secession are quite possibly one of the most underrated bands of the 80’s.
You mentioned you have most of their 12″ collection … any chance you have the rare 12″ Michael, featuring the Chris Lord-Alge remix??

If so, would you mind posting that soon? Pppppplease? 🙂
Here’s the remix someone ripped/shared on YouTube:
GREAT BAND!
Thank you
SNEAKYVILLE by them is still one of my all-time favorite GOTH tracks!!!
Happy Easter
Paul,
Not sure if you had to do some audio correction which led to this, or if it’s that way on the 12″ but at 00:38 the wrong note is present in the “Pecky Plus” mix. I was able to easily correct it in Audacity by simply grabbing the correct note/downbeat from elsewhere in the song, but I thought that you should know. I’m familiar with this mix and have not heard this issue in other rips. I appreciate your upload very much!
I noticed this also. I think it was spliced and inserted incorrectly. Perhaps in an attempt to fix a noisy spot. Like you said an easy fix in any wav editor. It actually sounds kinda cool though like an intentional edit you might see in a “remix” service edit.
Words can not express how much I love this band and this song in particular. Thank so very much!
You’re welcome Mothloop I hope to be posting more Secession in the future 🙂
I have never heard of this band, but i’m looking forward to hearing them for the first time.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Junior. Enjoy! 🙂
thanks paul!
You’re welcome lietz 🙂
LOVE IT!
Thank you Shannon 🙂
Wow! I was nearly floored when I sat down to my computer, pulled up your site and saw this as today’s post. What a fantastic finish to an otherwise crummy day for me today. I have been hoping you would get to this one for a very long time. THANK YOU! This is one of my favorite dance tracks of all time and I have a couple copies of this 12″ and the Canadian version of Promise with the Magician on B-side also. And what an incredible remix job from Steve Peck. One of the greatest engineers of the era,… Read more »
You’re welcome Thomas glad I was able to brighten a crummy day. It’s always nice to hear a good song when you are feeling low 🙂
thank you, could you post Howard Jones – The Prisones 12″ – Bang- Holding My heart 12″,
Greetings…
Man Paul, it’s only now that I got to see what you posted today and I am thrilled out of my gourd!! This band intrigues me. First time I ever heard of them was through Razormaid! and a song called “The Animals Come Out At Night.” This was an interesting sample based track. Since then, I heard great things about the band. They certainly have a cult status. As a person with an avid interest in the occult and the supernatural, “The Magician” piqued my interest. I am so very thankful for you bringing this out for all of us.… Read more »
You’re welcome Jeff I will have to check out that Razormaid mix i’m not familiar with it. Big hug 🙂
Great underrated band. I remember the video for ‘Touch’ and thought it was New Order for a moment. I’m saying a prayer for ‘Roller Over’ from The Thompson Twins for Friday or some time in the future.
Now THAT´s a great song, Roll Over. Especially with its remix versions Roll Over (Again) and Rollunder (b-side to King For A Day).
Love this single! I appreciate your making it available in high resolution!
You’re welcome VanceMan 🙂
Wow Paul, what a big surprise with this post. This is totally new for me. I never heard about this band. Great song, great mixes and as always great mastering. I can never thank you enough Paul for all the joy you bring me again and again.
You’re welcome Daniel I’m very happy to introduce you to something new 🙂
Interesting! Never heard that song before. I do have the “Touch” 12inch but never took real interest in the band back then.
Thank you Paul. Great find for me.
You’re welcome Song And Dance 🙂
Please consider posting ‘Touch’ as it’s one of favs.
Thanks Paul! I had started into the recording & scanning of the entire Secession 12 inch catalogue a while back, but lost steam half way through. $$ was a bit tight too. I never got a chance to pick up the later 12 inches. I should have kept on! Anyway, great post and superb band that never got it’s due credit.
You’re welcome RA I have pretty much all of their 12″ singles. Just digging them out one by one very underrated band.
Thanks Paul for another great post!
Do you know the story of this remix (if there is one)
made by Steve Peck (Shep Pettibone’s engineer) ?
I saw also the video, it’s very hot.
I did some research for this band BE.D12” however there is not much out there about them. Steve Peck being the remixer was one of the reasons I bought this single not many with Mr. Peckm alone at the remix helm 🙂
Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
