BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988
In both the US and Europe “Superfly Guy” was released with seperate alternate 12″ mixes, however the US 12″ promo included an exclusive remix titled “Superfly Guy (Do The Bourasa Mix)” which is similar to the original but Steve Bourasa who worked with Hot Tracks and Rhythm Stick remix services added some cool edits and thrown in snippets of “Theme From S-Express” and Curtis Mayfield’s “Superfly”. This mix is extremely rare and only appears on this release.
The “Fluffy Bagel Mix” and “Visitor Mix” were both released in Europe as a limited edition 12″. The “Visitor Mix” is a very muffled dub sounding remix by Baby Ford.

And I thought I had them all! Paul, you really are the canine’s gonads sir!
Had a vinyl 7” once. B-side was what it was all about. Great triphop for afterhours, when they did not have a name yet.
Great! Thank you so much!
You’re welcome G-Raffe808 🙂
Just WOW!
Thanks, Christian
You’re welcome Christian 🙂
This is incredible! Thank you!!!!!
You’re welcome Conner 🙂
Another awesome post. Many thanks. I’m quietly hoping that you have some UK mixes (superior to US as i think we all know by now) of ‘Theme from S-Express’ and a 12″ of ‘Hey music lover’.
I mostly only bought the US pressings Neil the only UK pressings I have are for “Hey Music Lover” and the “Megamix”.
Oh … what a pity
if you don’t have the US 12″ of “Music lover” (remixed by Shep!).
Hope at least that the UK version is the William Orbit remix,
but thanks anyway.
I do have the US 12″ and the UK.
Then I’ll wait patiently,
have a nice evening!
That’s a shame. Out of interest have you ever heard the superior original mix as released in the UK with the proper samples (i’m guessing that they are indeed pure samples and this is the reason for their deletion for the US market).
Thanks Paul,
… enjoy this trip!
only You can give us such rarity.
You’re welcome BE.D12” 🙂
Really excited about this post Paul. I’m only familiar with the Fluffy Bagel remix, so going to crank my speakers up really loud and enjoy these other mixes.
Thanks again for everything matey and for all the joy you give to each and everyone of us.
You’re welcome Roy 🙂
Oh My Paul!! The Records you have!! I love, wait…..LOVE!!! when you pull out the surprises!! I am so excited about the Steve Bourasa mix!! Anything by a former Hot Tracks/Rhythm Stick master-mixer gets my pulse pounding!! Again, you are so beyond generous with what you present to us. And the care that goes into these presentations. You’ve brought me close to tears with so many of your gifts. Hey, who am I kidding, I have cried real tears over what you have done on many occasions. You are so brilliant and special. I feel so much love from these… Read more »
Thank you Jeff. The Steve Bourasa mix is by far the best mix so cool it holds true to the original with something extra. “The Visitor” mis is my least favorite it sounds very dull I guess that was what Baby Ford was going for it just doesn’t sound like the other mixes.
I had to comment again concerning this mix Paul. Thank you for ALWAYS showcasing the unique and the rare. Gosh, that Steve Bourasa mix is so great. I actually listened to it last, starting with the Baby Ford mix. That mix was, and I hate to be so negative, but it was really awful. I can’t imagine it getting played anywhere. It sounds like what a “visitor” to a club might hear standing in the parking lot waiting to get in. I guess that was the effect, but it really was difficult to listen to, like something went terribly wrong… Read more »
