Paul, I love your readers oh so much!! Jon above has done a great history lesson to Regina and I am certainly grateful. She definitely deserved more. That’s why you are such a dear in that you champion the artists that really NEED and MUST never be forgotten!! I loved this track so much. Those BEATS, I mean…..WOW!! Would have loved an editor to go off with them. And those horns too, they almost reminded me of “Sussudio” in their execution. So fun. And, ahem, the bonus beats mix, “One Minute of Head” was great provocative percussion!! I am grinning… Read more »
For those who don’t know her background: Regina started making music in the 70’s with Stephen Bray in a band called Regina Richards and the Red Hot. They released one self titled album. Regina continued to work with Bray developing songs for other people when Madonna introduced herself to Bray. They shortly formed a band (with Regina). Regina is credited for helping Madonna work on her voice, especially on the demo’s that secured her deal with Sire records. Her second solo LP was going to be called “Best Kept Secret”. “Extraordinary Love” was released as a promo 12″ but Atlantic… Read more »
It’s slightly demeaning to refer to Regina as a “Madonna-sound a like concept”. She was her own person. She wrote most of her songs. She just happened to be discovered by Stephen Bray who was looking for new artists to work with. While “Baby Love” has always been compared to a Madonna track but one has to remember Bray was locked into a sound by the late 80’s…listen to some of his other non-Madonna productions (during the late 80’s), they all sound like they could be sung by Madonna. Regina’s “Curiosity” album was fairly good but when Atlantic Records changed… Read more »
I did not mean to offend in any way Jon there just wasn’t much info about this single on the net so I wrote what I found on Wikipedia. I am clearly a Regina fan I have posted all of her singles’s except “Beat Of Love” which I will be posting at a later date. She is an underrated pop singer/songwriter.
I don’t recall this Chris Lord-Alge mix.
Thanks Paul 🙂
You’re welcome Junior 🙂
Never knew this single existed. Can’t wait to listen to B side, track 2. Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Steveasian 🙂
Great find ! Never heared of it, and with a title like that for track B2, that’s unheared of.
Enjoy Dirk 🙂
