BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
Originally posted October 26th, 2011
“They Only Come Out at Night” is 1984 dance single by American singer-songwriter and record producer Peter Brown. The single was his first number one on the dance chart, where it stayed for one week. “They Only Come Out at Night”, also peaked at number fifty on the soul singles chart, but unlike previous Peter Brown entries, it did not make the Hot 100. It did, however, reach No. 102 on the Billboard Bubbling Under the Hot 100 chart.

Thank you very much Paul.
Great song and great cover art Paul!! I’m so pleased you re-ripped this one as it’s one of my favorites. I was so sad when I heard that Peter Brown stopped making music. He has such talents.
Oh boy, my 2018 Halloween is SOUNDING incredible and all because of you, dear Paul!!
Jeff
What a joy to see this! It reminded me to check out the other Peter Brown song you have posted – I love his music. Thank you Aidoo!!
Have this 12″ and the recording at 33 1/3 is impeccable, including the “Jellybean” mix. Thanks, Paul.
Yes, the artwork is very cool. I think i remember you compiling this track on your Halloween compilation some years ago? Different version though, i think.
Love this soulful funky track!
Cheers Paul 🙂
You are right Mark I did include this on my Halloween compilation a few years ago. I think I used either the 7″ or LP version 🙂
Ah, i think it was the Loreto Manni mix which you included on the bonus compilation.
Cool artwork – the typography is really contemporary.
Totally agree Jon 🙂
Thanks Paul. The Jellybean remixes are always great. These ones are no exception to it and the song fits with the theme Halloween. Still waiting for a pristine rip of the Jellybean remix of Billy Joel’s “Tell her about it”. Maybe we will have the chance to get it someday here on this fabulous blog which is BTG.
I have the Joel 12″ I have so many things to post that sometimes they get lost in the shuffle 🙂
Hi Paul,
this track is my personal favourite from Mr. Brown.I love the haunting lyrics 🙂
Mine too Patric I love the entire vibe of the track 🙂
The beat around 0:24 flashes me right back to the extended mix of Wild Boys from the same year, 1984! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FOZzKDaxkQ
Instant flashback to my living room with a Maxell MX90 recording of Wild Boys before I bought the 2-cd compilation of Duran Duran Strange Behaviour to get a pristine copy of it.
Thanks, Paul!!
You’re welcome, Fred. I bought Strange Behaviour too great comp 🙂
