LOVE seeing this pop up!! Peter Brown’s hits in 1977 and ’78, “Dance With Me” and “Do Ya Wanna Get Funky With Me,” were among the first songs I ever bought (vinyl 45s) and I loved them. I can’t imagine why I don’t know this song but am looking forward to hearing it.
Love your blog!
WOW! They added tracks with spirals to indicate drum breaks in 1979! I thought Ultimix invented that. Thank you for another fantastic Disco Banger!
You’re welcome, Martika 🙂
Actually way before Ultimix, the record companies would often issue a “banded DJ promo” of certain albums where the songs were either very long and were broken up by bands with silence between them for a DJ to cue and play only part of a 22-minute piece. Or some albums have songs that segue (aka run-together) like Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here and The Final Cut that were banded and broken up for easier cueing for radio station DJs. Sometimes the music would not cross-fade like on the stock copies, rather be mastered where the songs end cold or… Read more »
Thank you Paul! I don’t think I was aware of this. I only knew Peter Brown for They Only Come Out At Night (which you’ve posted). Good to see it was a big hit on the Billboard Disco chart. You knew this was the real deal when the short version was still 8 minutes… And love the electric guitar solo. Have a hot weekend, and you too Jeff, Martika and everyone else here!!
I am happy to hear you liked the record, Retro Hound. Have a great weekend 🙂
Have a fantastic rest of the weekend!
I Like. Excellent quality. Thanks
You’re welcome, Ace 🙂
Fantastic! Thank you DJPaul! Been searching for this deep disco cut for years!
You’re welcome, Gary 🙂
Although I know, Peter Brown, this is a new one for me, Paul. I liked the T.K. Disco label for their great diversity of disco songs. This should be a lot of fun. Great info concerning breaks on the label too.
Have a great weekend, Paul, Retro Hound, Martika and all the rest. Boogie down!
Jeff
This one is a Disco banger. I hope you like it. Have a nice weekend.
Paul, you know the more I play this record, the more I love it, And is it me, but when he sings the part about Funk Town, get down, I almost hear Steely Dan? It’s just so cool.
Thanks again, Paul!
Jeff
Thank you, Jeff. Same to you!
