I remember this from when I was a kid. Great energy, also great to hear it in excellent quality. I only have the version on a volume of Ben Liebrand’s Grand 12-Inches series, so am looking forward to this seemingly different version. Thanks as always!

thanks for this “one hit” from P. Hernandez, who didn’t need to sing more songs: he still wins between 900 and 1700 $ per day thanks to royalties !!!!

As a disco track it defined the era, but I would LOVE to hear it in its original hard rock concept. Thanks for the 12″ share!

Paul, I just wanted to thank you for the QUALITY of your posts. 600 dpi scans? 3 HQ choices for download? Extensive info about the post? I really do appreciate your attention to detail. These posts are fantastic! Plus, “Born to Be Alive” was always one of my favorite songs of the disco era. This is the first time I’ve heard the French release… a little bit different than the US releases, but just as enjoyable! Thanks again… — Zack

Wow! The first 45 to ever enter my collection. I was a little surprised when I saw the length of the track. The extended version I got off Napster a long time ago is 7:23 and sounds completely different. This, I believe is the full version of the one I had on my 45. Were there 2 12″ versions?

Thanks, Paul! This is just one of those classic yet under-played songs that I can never, ever, turn off if I hear it playing. I have always LOVED the piano’s 3 tones in this song (easily heard at 2:50)…gong!…Gong!…GONG!

Thanks for this classic!

Hello,
Can you digitize me FLAC 24 bit the face B (instrumental) of the original 45T of “Born To Be Alive”?
If it is possible, you can make me a WeTransfer of it?
Cordially

It’s Monday, but it feels like “Disco Friday!!” I’m all in for this classic Classic!! Oh Paul, this is one of my favorites, as the energy is non-stop. What an incredible way to start the week. WOW!! You really take us back today!! Hey, I once heard that Madonna was one of his dancers. Do you know if this is true?

Thanks again Paul for this Disco chestnut!! All those who don’t know it will soon have it as one of their favorites.

Jeff

It’s true, it was “madonna’s french period”, just before her “new-york’s period” later in the 80’s!;-)

You are absolutely correct about Madonna! That’s how she got her start in the business, and has mentioned Patrick and the song over the years, so she’s not embarrassed by it at all. There’s actually a video on YouTube of her when she was in France with him. All the girls, including Madonna, look very similar but she’s up front, leading the pack.
It’s a wonderful song, and the sentiment is true. Thanks for the masterful rip, Paul! xo

He was born to be alive and you, Paul, obviously feel you were born to make uns happy. In my case you succeeded!
And now, back on the dancefloor, i.e. my living room. 🙂
