I seem to recall this song being featured in “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”?
Uhhhh 👏👏👏👻👻👻 born… born to Alive!!!!
I remember this from when I was a kid. Great energy, also great to hear it in excellent quality. I only have the version on a volume of Ben Liebrand’s Grand 12-Inches series, so am looking forward to this seemingly different version. Thanks as always!
One of my best ever , even that I don’t like this sleeve Picture , I like the old one , many thanks Paul for this one
thanks for this “one hit” from P. Hernandez, who didn’t need to sing more songs: he still wins between 900 and 1700 $ per day thanks to royalties !!!!
As a disco track it defined the era, but I would LOVE to hear it in its original hard rock concept. Thanks for the 12″ share!
You’re welcome Stephen Scott 🙂
Paul, I just wanted to thank you for the QUALITY of your posts. 600 dpi scans? 3 HQ choices for download? Extensive info about the post? I really do appreciate your attention to detail. These posts are fantastic! Plus, “Born to Be Alive” was always one of my favorite songs of the disco era. This is the first time I’ve heard the French release… a little bit different than the US releases, but just as enjoyable! Thanks again… — Zack
Thank you Zack I appreciate your comment so very much 🙂
🙂 Thanks again dear Paul!!!
You’re welcome CL 🙂

yeahhhhhhhhhhh DISCO FOREVER!!! Thanks Paul! great start to the week, it would be great if a week dedicated to DISCO MUSIC.
THANKSSSSSS
You’re welcome Rafael 🙂
Wow! The first 45 to ever enter my collection. I was a little surprised when I saw the length of the track. The extended version I got off Napster a long time ago is 7:23 and sounds completely different. This, I believe is the full version of the one I had on my 45. Were there 2 12″ versions?
Hi Patrick the 7:23 version is the U.S. 12″ version there is also a 3 min version that appeared on 7″ singles 🙂
In fact two versions on the 7″ single!;-)
Thanks, Paul! This is just one of those classic yet under-played songs that I can never, ever, turn off if I hear it playing. I have always LOVED the piano’s 3 tones in this song (easily heard at 2:50)…gong!…Gong!…GONG!
Thanks for this classic!
-Fred
I love that piano too Fred this song is just an amazing classic that never gets tired 🙂
Wow! Wonderful. I used to love this song. It’s soooooo good. Great way to start the week. Thanks, Paul.
You’re welcome Alberto 🙂
Hello,
Can you digitize me FLAC 24 bit the face B (instrumental) of the original 45T of “Born To Be Alive”?
If it is possible, you can make me a WeTransfer of it?
Cordially
It’s Monday, but it feels like “Disco Friday!!” I’m all in for this classic Classic!! Oh Paul, this is one of my favorites, as the energy is non-stop. What an incredible way to start the week. WOW!! You really take us back today!! Hey, I once heard that Madonna was one of his dancers. Do you know if this is true?
Thanks again Paul for this Disco chestnut!! All those who don’t know it will soon have it as one of their favorites.
Jeff
You’re welcome, Jeff. I have not heard about Madonna may be one of our Madonna guru’s will shed some light 🙂
It’s true, it was “madonna’s french period”, just before her “new-york’s period” later in the 80’s!;-)
Thank you Rough-Diamond. I was starting to doubt my memory of this.
Have a nice day!
Jeff
You are absolutely correct about Madonna! That’s how she got her start in the business, and has mentioned Patrick and the song over the years, so she’s not embarrassed by it at all. There’s actually a video on YouTube of her when she was in France with him. All the girls, including Madonna, look very similar but she’s up front, leading the pack.
It’s a wonderful song, and the sentiment is true. Thanks for the masterful rip, Paul! xo
Hey Raymond, thanks to you and Rough-Diamond above, I feel validated. Paul’s site brings the best music fans on the planet here.
Have a nice day!!
Jeff
He was born to be alive and you, Paul, obviously feel you were born to make uns happy. In my case you succeeded!
And now, back on the dancefloor, i.e. my living room. 🙂
What a thoughtful comment SAnd Dance. Keep dancing my friend 🙂
