I don’t think I understand this medley, back then and still today I find it rather awful. Am I the only one here that doesn’t fancy this medley? Is it the overdubs, is it the vocals drawn to the background? As much as I love OMD, this Frankenstein thing is a big question mark for me.
But still happy to see a re-rip of course, and OMD is always welcome.
Stefano I think it was meant to be a more dubby house track since that was pretty popular at the time. I think they were trying for something like Duran Duran’s “Burning The Ground”. Still in 1988 this was a massive floor filler going top ten in the US. I remember vividly dancing to this one 🙂
Probably was ordered from the record company that way, as a house medley to promote the album. This two top producers did a great job, I don’t dislike it totally, but the original versions and 12″ are what OMD is all about, the 80s and early 90s releases, synth-pop at his finest.
I agree Davos I wish they would have incorporated a bit more of the original songs into this mix 🙂
Awesome. Didn’t take the FLAC of this when i took it last in 2012 (just checked harddrive). Great to have FLAC + the 2015 rip which i’ve no doubt is much improved knowing you!
Thanks Neil glad you are now able to have this in the best quality flac is the only way to go especially in 24 bit. Enjoy!
Thanks Paul.
You’re welcome Omar 🙂
She’s Alive! She’s Alive!! She’s Alive!!! Very cool Paul that you’ve brought this “monster mix” back to existence to haunt our stereos once again. Very curious to hear this track again (it’s been quite a while and I can’t really remember the medley). Looking forward to the dub as well. Thanks for the OMD treat. I love all the records you’ve ripped so far, especially that awesome mega-mix.
Jeff
P.S. Many, many kudos for yesterday’s Skatt Bros. record. You deserve only the best for what you do here everyday!!
You are so welcome Jeff I appreciate your comment. I really hope that you like this 12″. Big hug 🙂
