Nocera – Summertime Summertime (US 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1986

Happy First Day Of Summer 2019 Northern Hemisphere

“Summertime Summertime” was the 1986 debut single release from freestyle singer Nocera, who co-wrote and co-produced the song with Floyd Fisher and the first single from her debut album Over the Rainbow, which was released in 1987. The single also featured contributions from Kurtis Mantronik (who added production mixes) and Chep Nunez (edits). This single would become Nocera’s well-known track and a signature song, peaking at number 2 on Billboard’s Dance Club Play Chart in 1986. In 1989, the single was re-released in Europe with new mixes done by Nunez and Todd Terry, and engineered by Norty Cotto.

Nog en av de hårdaste dubbarna under mitten av 80-talet. Med Mantronik på beatboxen och Chep Nunez rakbladsmagi blev det en fullträff som överträffar klubmixen. Klockrent musikgodis för de kräsnaste electronördarna.

I downloaded it out of pure curiosity and it turned out to be a song I had heard in a documentary of the UK nightclubs in the 80s, thanks for uploading it paul, greetings from Lima.

Lo descargue por pura curiosidad y resulto ser una canción que habia escuchado en un documental de las discotecas de uk en los 80s, gracias por subirlo paul, saludos de Lima.

Great track! I have this 12″ and have been playing it recently (you know; as the weather gets nicer…).

A cool version of this song was done by witch house artist oOoOO (I know, I know; the name). I love his first couple of records on Tri-Angle; they’re worth seeking out if you like the Nocera cover.

Thanks, as always, DJ Paul!

I miss BTG “DISCO Fridays” so bad! That was the reason I was caught by this blog, but seems that everything’s got an end.

Thank you, Paul. This single is definitely ‘one that got away’.
I hope one day you will do Terry Billy ‎”Don’t Lock Me Out” [Mantronik Mixes] (1987).
The UK 12in sounds so much nicer – as the Dub is spread across one side and the two Club mixes are on side A. The original U.S. 12in has nice Bass-A-Pella & 7in Edit. But, as you can imagine, all five mixes are squished across two sides. Quite sure none of the mixes have ever been released on CD or digital download.

The Mantronik Club & Radio mixes were on 1989 CD single.
30 years later, and the dubs still haven’t been issued digitally!

I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS AWESOME POST!!! I really can’t thank you enough, Paul!!! This is such as classic that is overlooked so much. The Hard Dub was always my favorite especially at 2:13 and 2:21. This Hard Dub was often played in CT on the mix shows. 3:19 in the Club Mix and 2:21 in the Hard Dub were my favorite outros and/or breaks for me to mix in another song for 16-32 beats. The credits on this 1986 release is great and as your blurb states, the 1989 release has Todd Terry on the project (he’s more famous for… Read more »

Happy Summer Solstice to you dear Paul and Burning The Ground community!! This is the perfect Summer song!! And those beats coming down hard like a hot Summer rain storm. This was my introduction to Kurtis Mantronik and I think he’s wonderful. Of course, Chep Nunez is here with the razorblade slicing up fierce beats. Paul, I really have to give you so many kudos for this great music. You know I love edits so much, it’s just great that your site has been this overflowing resource of incredible music festooned with edits. I also love it that it’s just… Read more »
